John Deere Snowblower - 1025r - vs Blizzard

Today we'll use the John Deere Snowblower attachment on the 1025r to clean up after the blizzard of 2022. Looks like we have about a foot of snow overall with some drifts up to 2 feet deep. Let's get the John Deere 1025r with the 47 inch front mount snowblower and get busy. This set up with the snowblower on the front and a 60 inch plow blade on the back is (in my opinion) the perfect setup for snow removal. We also have a stuck car to deal with so let's get started.
Equipment used:
John Deere 1025r subcompact tractor
John Deere 47 inch snowblower
King Cutter 60 inch back blade

Your excellent video just reinforced the conclusion I've come to. A snowblower definitely has it's advantages over a plow blade. Your driveway is much larger than mine. With a deep snow as shown, with a plow-it moves the snow, but you still have to put it someplace; requires double handling. With a snowblower, you reduce or eliminate the second step. The majority of the snow is cleared and moved with the first step. Final clean up can be done with a plow with minimal effort like you did with a backblade. Thanks again, great video!

Thank you. One of my neighbors has the same tractor with a plow. It seems to work good for him but I prefer the blower as well. He has to push the snow quite a distance onto his lawn to make room for future storms. Thanks a lot for watching! Have a great day. 👍

As a tractor and blower user and fan myself. If you can get a cab, it makes a huge difference. I have a JD3320 open cab and after 10 years finally added the cheapest cab I could find. I can't express how much of a difference this made. Of course make sure you have a large enough door for the height. Backyard Maine looks like he wouldn't have that option as the ROPS bar is folded over in order to fit (I assume). I myself had to do some minor modifications to my overhead door to make mine fit, and it just barely does. But worth every moment of trouble to make it fit IMHO.

I used to have TWO John Deere 212 tractors when I lived in NY. I had one with a plow, and one with a blower. The plow was MUCH faster with smaller amounts of snow (4-5" and under). The blower cleared stuff the plow wouldn't have been able to get through. Deepest I ever did with the blower was 37". So, tell your wife you need BOTH a plow AND a blower. LOL

I use the back blade with small storms maybe 3 inches or less and it goes really fast. I wouldn't want to have to take the blower off to use the plow because that's actually a bit of work. Thanks for the comment and for watching.

I was so happy this year to get to use my Husqvarna snowblower. It's no machine like that but I bought it 3 years ago and hadn't had any snow since here in Maryland. Took care of a couple 6-8" snows we had in January really nicely. Neighbors even got in on it I was so happy to use the thing. That's an awesome setup. We haven't had a snow like yours in 15 years but if we do I think I'll just stay inside! Enjoyed watching.

I put a snowblower throat on the top of the snow bower, from Deck Dolly, and saw someone who had put side extensions on each side to eliminate the overflow, put lights on drift breakers. Best improvements to the blower, no more small drifts from the side, no snow going over the top and no more running into steps/walls.

Back in early December, areas just south of Buffalo received almost 7 feet over just a couple of days. We only received about 6 inches that time. I have a 1025 with a 72" loader mount plow I built. I also went to Tractor Supply and purchased a cattle mat. I cut a piece off 8" wide and installed it under my 4" cutting edge. If it ever wears out I can flip it to get to a new edge. On my 2nd year and it shows very little wear. I like I can plow over the grass and not tear up the yard. It justs sweeps over the grass. I also have a 758 tractor that I mounted a 47" snow blower. The blower is App. 35 years old I rebuilt everything and made mounts to fit the front on the 758. Up to 5" of snow I use the plow to push it to one side of my driveway then use the blower to get rid of it. Over 5" I just use the blower. I enjoy playing in the snow.

Sound like you have an awesome setup. I use the same tractor supply horse mat on my back blade. I pinch it between the metal cutting-edge and the plow. @@BackyardMaine I also mount the mat the same way. I agree it acts like a squeege on the blacktop and sweeps over the grass in my yard.
