I've got a '74 or so 410 that needs this done. Thanks for the video to ease my nerves about the horizontal filter.

Great video. I have a 1970-ish JD-300 I changed both the filters, but everything still acts like it’s not getting fluid ( very jumpy and SSSSLLLOOOWWW). I’m going to check that bottom screen next. Hopefully that’s where the problem is.
@HankO5595 жыл бұрын
That's the first place I would look to. Also there is a pressure relief valve in the one filter housing that if it isn't seating tight could give you the same symptoms. Let me know what you find.

So you need to buy 30 gallons to fill up the hydraulic and transmission? The fill plug near your seat is for both the hydraulic and transmission too?
@jjcuna Жыл бұрын
Correct. These have a system that uses hy-gard. Its one system so to speak.
@seahawksforever9504 Жыл бұрын
I haven't change the oil in 15 years. Pulled up the dipstick and the oil is still clear. I don't want to waste $600 for 30 gallons hydraulic fluid anyway. Thanks.@@jjcuna

Thanks for the video - helpful. I just bought a 510c and its the same. It seems that the transmission and hydraulic system share the same fluid? Is that possible...
@HankO5595 жыл бұрын
Yes sir. They do share the same fluid.

@@HankO559 I have a 710d JD and a 655c Ford BH also, and those have separated systems. Unusual engineering combining them. Any idea why this 510c that I recently bought and is very neglected, would have such slow hydraulic action? It has the power to dig, moves fine, but the loader and hoe seem to be cavitating or starving for fluid. Maybe all the filters are in bypass? Thanks
@HankO5595 жыл бұрын
Richard I'm no expert by far on the mechanics of the machine but I will offer some suggestions. The sump screen shown in my video could be clogged, the filters could also be clogged. Also there is a check valve that is above the nut on the filter housing that secures a spring loaded check valve that may not be seating right. You can check the pressure but if the machine is moving good I would think it's fine. I checked out your vids. Are you up in Northern California.

Is the full mark 3/16 up from the bottom of the stick? and is the dipstick 21 1/4 to the cover to the end of the dipstick?
@HankO5595 жыл бұрын
On mine the full mark for the hydraulic fluid is about 1" and the total length is roughly 21"

is there 3 drains? one on bottom of transmission near the filter, one next to the hose you replaced, what about the drain towards the rear, on the bottom near axle?
@HankO5595 жыл бұрын
There is a drain at the rear. If you are referring to what looks like a drain plug on the filter housing its not. There is a check valve above that nut. If you remove that nut be careful not to loose the valve its spring loaded.
@HankO5595 жыл бұрын
Not a check valve. It is a relief valve.

What gear do you push debris with and load dirt?
@hankto7186 жыл бұрын
It really depends on what your pushing. Im always in low range and not above third gear for work. I'll get into high range and higher gears when moving around.
