We run torq guard 30w in all our tractors. We run a 4640, 4440, and a 8130 and it works great in all seasons.

great video. just wanted to tell you that i went the the John Deere dealership the other day to check out there drive green test drive promotion they had going on thinking that i would test drive one of the new John Deere tractors for 2017. Come to find out the promotion was for lawn tractors. Long story short they let me test drive a bigger agricultural tractor so i was thinking one in the 9000 series or an RT. come to find out they had a New Holland T8 that someone traded in so i drove that and now i see why you liked it so much. it drove so nice and was so technologically advanced.

the later 4020s have the same motor as the early ones. but the injectors are different and that is why they have more power. the oil pan is also bigger on the newer ones

I am surprized with the single weight oil. I have not seen that in many many years. it is all multi weight, 15W40 is very common. so is 10w30. love your videos, Logger wade sent me your way.

Don't use a crescent wrench to tighten the drain plug, use a box end wrench. It won't round off the corners.

How often do you change the transmission filter? And I can't believe it doesn't have a spin on oil filter.

if you were to use 15w40, you can run it year around without a summer, winter oil difference. did you check or change hyd oil? what about your air filter? and get the grease gun out! lol really important to change hyd oil. many a good tractor goes to the Bone yard when you don't service the HYD system. hyd oil is not a permanent fluid.
@learningtheoldschoolinthen2585 жыл бұрын

Where ie the hydraulic screen Part number R27173 on a 1963 John Deere 4010?
@iowadairyboysFarms7 жыл бұрын
Our John Deere says to start the tractor up and get the oil warm. Then shut off the tractor and drain the oil. It flows out way faster and gets more contaminants out of the engine.
@HowFarmsWork7 жыл бұрын

straight 30 oil Old school we use 5w40 full synthetic in all are tractors except the old 4230 gets 15w40 and I use Shell 15w40 triple protection in my old International hwy tractor because synthetic oil cleans an engine so well it would leak oil if I used it I could hear Trav busting your chops, I giggled I have a brother to

a good thing is to not hold the oilstick upwards when you check the oil level, becus the oil will go down and you will think it is at Max when it is not. i hadd a friend that destroyed his engine with that mistake, everytime he checked to see if the oil level was good he hold it the wrong way.. enyways great video! soon at 85k subs!

Ours was okay when it was above 50 but it took a bit to crank it but if it was below 50 it would need a shot to get it going if it were below 25 you better plug in the block heater... either way 12v starter would wear the battery down or need replacing every other year

You didn't start it and let it warm up before changing the oil? Contaminates settle out and when you warm it up and then drain it all flows a lot better and the contaminants haven't settled out in places you don't want them.
