These John Deere Tractors were the end of an era. When John Deere built Tractors to last and not everything was made of plastic and cheap metals. I always love wrenching on my 322

Maybe helpful suggestion that the next time you are driving the shaft out of the pully that maybe you could use a pin punch of some sorts that will go into the hole without contacting the threads but will bottom out in the hole the bolt was in. Then maybe the key won't create any problems on removal. Hope that may help. Thanks for Sharing. Stay Safe. Stay Healthy.

There’s supposed to be a small coil spring between the hydro pump shaft and the pto shaft. It keeps pressure on the shaft to keep it from rattling/wearing.

Wing it hobbies are wonderful to have. The splined joints may need a little alignment to quiet them down a little. Maybe a few more shims in the PTO clutch mount? Waiting for the glow plug replacement video now! It's great that you can buy John Deere yellow and green in spray cans.

I have a cub cadet with 265 hours or so on it. My PTO is getting kind of funky. After I have been using the unit for awhile, if I turn off the PTO, when I activate it again it starts up after 30 seconds or so. It feels mechanical. I have learned that it's electric. My theory is that it gets overheated after being engaged for awhile. I grew up with International Harvester cub tractors & cub cadets. They aren't even close to what they used to be. Pretty cheesey

i had a john deere 212 that i inherited from my grandfather. i had to fix a lot of maintenance that nobody ever did including the brakes and the front end and the electric clutch. a neighbor had one that had a bunch of new parts but a blown-up motor. bought it for 50 bucks stripped it and fixed mine up real good. then the neighbors' field burned and took the whole town with it. i lost everything damn.
@Z-Ack2 жыл бұрын
Damn.. everytime i hear of a field burning up its always been because they were using equipment that they knew was crap and never took the time to fix anything, putting em back to work every season with just a bigger oil leak, belts slapping, bearings that only unstick after half the jobs done, taped up gas lines and a exhaust flapper hanging on by an old zip tie that somehow aint broke off yet.. then they wonder how the ole 65 combine caught the dry ass corn stalk on fire.. makes somebody develop anger issues when somebody elses lazyness or cheapness effects you and you wind up in a hole because of their shit.. same kind of bullshit like if you live in a duplex or apt and somebodies dumb ass does some dumb shit and burns everybody elses stuff and even if you been paying for renters insurance for years you only come out with pennies and your whole everything that meant anything to ya is gone forever., sad times..

The best thing for that tractor is to fix.......if you can get parts and dump it. I had one as well with a single stage blower, blade 60" deck and a tiller. I rebuilt the same clutch as well. The 430 is a basic 318 but with a longer frame and a 2 speed transaxle. The only good part of it is the engine. In the winter a block heater is needed with good glow plugs. I used mine cutting grass and has very light duty front wheel spindles that can break at any time on hills I broke 3 in one year with no cab as extra weight ??? It is very hot to cut grass due to the engine fan with blow back to operator, the long front end is not the best to navigate around items with the hand tranaxle speed control......not nice. I ran mine for a year and sold John Deere have a good resale and i got my money back from someone never owning one and liked it. I upgraded to back than to the 455 that is twice the tractor in every way and operation. My opinion with the 430 it was a poorly made tractor. I had a 332 diesel way better same as 318 frame that i kept the tiller from the 430 and mounted on the 332. With parts available leaving and old to get with used parts that wear out i sold and moved up to 425 445 455 and a hydro tiller that is way faster than the pto tiller

I still have a f930 with a 60 deck and a blade I use on in winter for light snows. The f930 far better at moving snow with a 70" blade than the 50" on the 430 pushing the long front end. both tractors of the same vintage. For me I like gas for winter for starting abilities no plug in and wait and fuel use does not matter with snow removal. Summer time and grass yes diesel is better.
@kytepc86322 жыл бұрын
Another disadvantage is a B v belt drive system for attachment from the front drive clutch. In ideal conditions the belt will only provide 13 HP to snow blower or deck, what ever is driven add snow there is slippage so diesel engine does not account for much with the blower the later 425 445 455 were all shaft gearbox blower or chain drive no belts to slip except the deck but that is summer. The 430 was just a bad design all around same with the 400 not that much better the 300 were the best
@kytepc86322 жыл бұрын
Come to think the 430 had 2 a belts to a hub drive in the front the 300 had a b to hub shaft for the blower same thing with snow slippage
