Geoff is very good at explaining the machine, Matt. The fuel usage is a fair bit higher than the massey over a gallon an hour but it may be that if you can cover more ground it'll cancel out. Always nice to see something different.

John Deere tractors are definitely good looking tractors. I drove a 6115R at college 5 years ago also ploughing. I can definitely see why people like them a lot.

Our contractor who really liked his 6719 ( I think it was) traded the massey in for a 6155R. He actually wanted a Massey, but he told me that the JD was a fair bit cheaper even with that command arm in it. I was just as surprised to hear that as you probably are right now ;)

Wow. Last time i drove a JD was back in 1988 and was a 3650. At the time it was state of the art. But you didn’t need a pilots license to drive it 🤣🤣🤣. Lovely machine.

Great video , I was hoping you would have got Geoff to have changed the drawbar over as we have a 6155 and my bugbear is where they have located the drawbar . It is such a tight squeeze to get to the drawbar between the fuel tank and front mudguard for us blokes with a bit of a belly ! , especially awkward with mud splattered up the fuel tank and back of the mudguard . We developed an oil leak under the cab also which is not great with only 700 hours on the clock !
@FourWindsFarm2 жыл бұрын
Cheers Andy I did ask about the placement on the drawbar and iv forgotten why it's put there but there is a reason I like where it is on the masseys but iv seen the new 8s and they have decided to move it to the back, we all liked it on the front where it's easy to get at! Sorry to hear about your oil leak hopefully covered on warranty? Cheers 👍
@niallmahonfarming32742 жыл бұрын
Hi Andy, just read your comment and we own a new 6 series and in them you get the option on where to store them but they are kept on the front from factory, you can keep them at the rear as well but when they come from dealer they are at front
@andyg29592 жыл бұрын
@@niallmahonfarming3274 Thanks for that I was not aware it could be stored at the rear . we now have a hired 6135m and that has also got an oil leak in the same place under the cab as the 6155 but this has 1700hrs on the clock and looks as though it has had some rough treatment !.
@niallmahonfarming32742 жыл бұрын
@@andyg2959 the m series is nothing compared to the r, the new m can be alright but r series is the way forward especially with the command pro

At 6 litre more per hour more that's £50 a day extra. Not to mention the appetite for eating their turbo every few thousand hours!

Great Vid,If its ploughing at the Exact Same speed as your Massey Was Its Not Covering any more ground for a Lot more Fuel used So Why would you Buy One ? Surely The Cost to Buy And Run is the Most important Thing ,Not That it Has Fancy Things on it. Is it A Good Price Is it Reliable With good Back up Is it Cheap to Run How are Robot tractors Going to Change Agriculture on your Farm ? You could Talk about That and what your Plans are for the future of Farming

I have watched a few American farmers that paid for the coolbox on a John deere and all they do is complain about how they put something cold in it and it comes out warm A tracked machine might help you guys with less compaction especially on your ground with lots of clay
@FourWindsFarm2 жыл бұрын
The tracked machines are cool and would definitely help with compaction but on the road iv herd they can be quite a rough ride, I'm not sure they would suit us as we have a lot of road work but they are cool! 👍

@@FourWindsFarm very true but if its not broke don't fix it. The masseys seem to do you very well, deere are expensive when you get all the bells n whistles.

As long as the working conditions at JD is not sorted I would hold off any investments into their equipment, and besides JD so far have never made any good copies of a CVT transmission. But absolutely agree the dealer support is everything. Not worth having a specific brand of equipment if you can never get it fixed, because they will all break down when you least want it to.
