Yes those were the closing wheels. They close the V shaped trench after the seed is planted. The bigger yellow wheels ahead of that are the guage wheels that control the depth of the row unit. Replacing the rubber on those is a job...I know first hand!

Take the closer wheel but off and put it in a vise. It will make life a lot simpler.
