I have a 2006 757. Bought it brand new. We have taken amazing care of it and it has taken amazing care of us! Our air filter is different. I've replaced most of the gaskets on the engine. New push rods several times. 3 new clutches over time. Hope it out last us.

Mine I think is a 2002. It's been awhile so not sure :) Mine dropped a valve a few years ago. Not really a hard job. Had to take the head off. Figuring out what the problem was the hard part. Couldn't figure out why I had no compression on one side.

My 757 won't turn over, any suggestions? It will crank, but won't turn over and actually start...
@mossman3814 жыл бұрын
I would check your compression. Mine needed a head gasket awhile back.
@mossman3814 жыл бұрын
Sorry not a head gasket. Mine dropped a valve guide. I did have to take off the head and fix the valve guide. So I needed a head gasket. I didn't have compression that is why it wouldn't run on one cylinder.

@@mossman381 I'm thinking I should change out the spark plugs to start, right?
@mossman3814 жыл бұрын
Yes, I assumed you did the basic checks. Always start with the basic things. Make sure you have good spark and you are getting fuel. A compression check would be my next check after those fail to fix the problem.

@@mossman381 mine will do this after winter storage. remove air filter and spray some quick start in carb, then pump choke if needed. that will usually get mine going.

I have an 2004 757 with 310 hrs just wondering about longevity.
@mossman38110 жыл бұрын
I had almost 500 hours last year when someone asked me.
@atlbraveswin0010 жыл бұрын
With regular maintenance (oil/filter changes) including keeping the engine clean of debris you should get 2000 hours easy before any kind of rebuild. When I say keep engine clean of debris...keep all cooling fins, flywheel area, and area around engine free of dirt/grass buildup. It's important that they stay cool. Try to get ethanol free gas or fuel stabilizer if you store the mower for winter months. It should help keep the carb from premature failure. I had a 757 with 1600 hrs before I traded it in for a 925a.
@mossman38110 жыл бұрын
Mine has developed an oil leak. Looks like the head gasket maybe? I will get a video of it at some point this winter.
@atlbraveswin0010 жыл бұрын
It's possible. If you are mechanically inclined (looks like you are based on the video), it's a job you could tackle yourself. I think sometimes the gaskets seep. If it isn't too severe I usually just keep an eye on it and make sure the oil is always up to level and let it go. I have a 727 with 1,100 hours doing this, but seems to be holding its oil well. If oil is getting everywhere and pooling around the base of the engine then obviously it needs to be fixed. It's up to you, better safe than sorry.

nativegun79 John Deere dealer told me if I never open the system I shouldn't have to change it.
@26legends9 жыл бұрын
+nativegun79 Have a Z720A, it has a hydraulic reservior under the seat. Do not over fill the tank as the oil needs room to expand. On the drives there are plastic plugs with a 3/8" square drive where a ratchet would nicely fit, DO NOT remove these plugs or you will lose your hydraulic oil. You may think it is a plug for checking oil level, it is not.
