Lotsa folks dont know that back in the day ,the 630 was a whole lotta plow ! We had a huge rhino ,with 34" scallops 16' wide and it took 200 hp n duals with a max speed of 8-10 mph depending on conditions .Thanks ,really enjoy the vids you and your brother produce .Brings back memories from before the bank took the farm in 80.

We had a 496 case ih disc and it did good leveling but not so much cutting. We traded it for a true tandem 345 disc and it’s very heavy built and does and great job leveling also

I love the 630 we run

I have never used any old case disks but they looked kinda heavier than other disks of the time. Unless the disc you are talking about was different....I know our IH disc works great just is not heavy enough to go down in some harder grounds

The early IH wing disks were a lot lighter than modern disks. I bought an IH 470 to upgrade from the lightweight old Ford 247 disk we used to run. Both are 14 foot disks, but the 470 is built like a tank compared to the old 247, and does a MUCH better job. It's built a LOT heavier than some of the other 14 foot disks that were built by Deere and others around the same time. The bigger, wider, wing fold disks, though, can be a different story, especially the older ones. The earliest ones you had to fold the wings MANUALLY, and those you can't hardly give away (naturally, because nobody likes to do anything manually anymore). The early hydraulic wing-folds weren't a lot better though, as they were built more like 14 foot disks, which is to say, WAY too light when you get up into 20+ foot widths, in order to do a good job... you REALLY need the frame weight and rigidity to push those blades down in the ground and hold them there, and for that you need a heavier, beefier frame. That's where the later model disks really come into their own and the earlier ones really show their shortcomings. Later! OL J R :)

Hi nice It looks good . can you put a clod-buster on back or a roller ??????????
@adogman123456 жыл бұрын
Ya I know I might of said it before but if you keep it buy a packer like a brillion xl144 3 roller packer to pull behind it then it will be more use for years to come so you can put a nice seed bed in like you do with vt and roller baskets on it
@lukestrawwalker6 жыл бұрын
Or an Unverferth rolling basket... I run one of those behind my BIL's rather dated White disk and it leaves a GREAT seedbed... You can see it on my channel... Later! OL J R :)

If the 7600 can pull the 630, then it has the capability to pull the planter. You should try planting with the 7600 because that would free up the 4640 to provide extra capacity for tillage work and eliminate the need for a bigger tractor.
@MatthewHoag776 жыл бұрын
It seems to be your experience that Case tillage implements are built too light for the tasks you have. Is that a fair assessment of your opinion? The 630 seems to have some drift or sway when it trails behind the 7600. Is that something to be attributed to the weight of it? Thanks for the video.

Matthew Hoag I would say the problem was more with the age and model of case disk they had. Older equipment was not built as heavy as it is today and different models are built heavier or lighter. There are brands that would make that 630 look like a lightweight.

Look at modern Sunflower or Landoll disks, or heck even new(er) CaseIH or Deere disks-- they're MUCH heavier framed and beefier built than disks like the 630, which is itself much heavier built than disks built in the 70's... The IH 470 disk I have is a MUCH better and heavier/stouter built disk than the Ford 247 that it replaced... of course it's about 10-15 years newer too, which explains a lot of the difference... older stuff was, usually, built lighter and not as stout, because they were smaller working widths, worked slower, and were pulled by smaller tractors, and weren't working as many acres as modern stuff does... Tractors now are a LOT higher horsepower than the same size farm used decades ago, and the implements are usually pulled faster, longer, and in harder conditions than in "the old days"... guys now usually make fewer tillage passes, which means the implement is being run harder in tougher ground conditions, which requires weight and heft in order to do the job and stay in one piece... Later! OL J R :)

Where did the idea for the belting on the bottom of the drawbar come from?
@drewwilke17336 жыл бұрын
William Wiegert the rubber flap is for baling hay. The flap helps the hay flow under the hitch and prevents the hay from wrapping on the PTO
@Northern_Farmer6 жыл бұрын
It prevents the hay from dragging under the tractor more.... both on baleing and mowing hay

I put 24in notched front blades and 24 smooth in the back of my 630 made a hole new disc for me

Yep... $$$$ though... :) Especially for GOOD blades... Later! OL J R :)

I'm thinking you had one of them 490 IH they was way to lite plus they didn't have good pitch on the blades
@tractormanmike18306 жыл бұрын
My guess is you had a 496 disk, they were built very light and were hard to keep in the ground

We hate our John Deere 635 disc. Leaves the field ruff and we've tried everything and no matter what it just leaves it wavy
