Thanks for the video. I have one of these that my dad bought back in the 80"s. It's still in great condition. I use it mainly when cutting firewood or working on fences. Where is a good place to get parts for these, like an air filter or brake pads. I don't have the hydraulic lift. Is there an after market hydraulic kit? I have a brand new, in the box wheel base widening kit that John Deere put out after more than a few people were rolling these things. A JD dealer gave it to me just to get it off his shelf. Don't know if I'll put that on 'cause I need to get between trees a lot. I did put mine on its side last winter while trying to get way too big of a load of firewood out of the timber across an icy hillside, at night. I winched it back on its feet and it fired right up. No damage at all. Learned a little something there.

Your welcome. Thank you for watching. These things are like a tank! The hydraulic dump was on it from the factory. Mine is leaking fluid. Haven’t really tried to find the leak yet but I did talk to the local John Deere dealer about that and they informed me that parts were no longer available. There’s some guys that have installed linear actuators to lift the dump and that might be the route I go. If yours has the air filter on the carburetor like mine the part number for that filter is PT13959 I got it from the dealer. But they also had a heavy duty filter that was remote mounted. As far as brakes go I’m going to do away with the factory mechanical and put together a hydraulic system. I would have already got it done but my wife and I had a little boy on the 5th of October so my time has been limited. Hopefully I’ll get back on it soon.

@@cannonballrepair7940 Congrats on the new baby boy and thanks for the reply. I hadn't thought of a linear actuator. That would be a good way to go and fairly easy install. My air filter is on the carb so I will call some local JD dealers and see if I can track one down. Thanks again!

I am Having trouble with the 4 whaeel drive. You can stop the front wheels with your hand. Can you tell me where to start?
@cannonballrepair7940 Жыл бұрын
On mine the wheels are connected with a chain. I’d check and make sure the chains are on. If they are see if they are turning the sprockets. If the sprockets are turning and not the wheels check the set screws and keys where the sprockets are on the shafts. Hopefully I wasn’t too confusing trying to describe all that.

I had one back in the day, it was a little underpowered but it did fine if you kept the rpms up, it was a handy unit, great for firewood. Only complaint was the brakes ate pads and needed adjusting often. I raised the sides about 2 feet with wood stakes and a piece of thick plywood that slid down in front of the tailgate for bulky items. I used that daily for over 20 years going up and down big hills loaded, replaced it with a diesel gator 6x4. You could unlock the diff on the gator making it easier to steer.

That’s awesome! I’m going to see if I can change out the mechanical brakes for a hydraulic set. I’m excited to get to use it.

@@cannonballrepair7940 Upgrade the brakes, they were not good. The machine doesn't like to have more than 400 pounds in the bed, 200-300lbs is no problem. I would avoid water/mud if possible the exposed chains and belt won't like it.
