This is why you invest in a 3rd party project manager. Seems like a waste of money on the front end, but pays off in the end.
@billwhite70992 жыл бұрын
@@johndernberger1961 that's a good point, and something I would have never thought of. Shouldn't you be trusting the company that sold the sight that they are overseeing their subcontractors? I mean I get where you're coming and you come off as knowledgeable. So my question is, for a grain bin sight like this is it bought through one company and then they sub out the different steps or is just an engineer consulted and then the stages are independent. Hopefully I didn't sound like a complete idiot.
@johndernberger19612 жыл бұрын
@@billwhite7099 Bill, not being privy to the contract the family agreed too, but watching the episodes over time, there seemed to be a lot of contractor performs this action and the family performs this action. I am sure this was in an effort to save money, but also provides the contractor many "way outs" when things go astray. I got the impression the family was the project manager at times. In a project of this size and the level of engineering and technical complexity most people are just not qualified. This is not a slam on anyone, but just a reality. We must always realize our shortcomings at time and let (pay) the professionals handle such complexity and oversight. This is a million dollar + investment. I must also note that the 3rd party manager works directly for you and not the contractor. Thus he/she can monitor / manage the project while you go about your daily busines which by the way "pays the bills" . I am sure this will all work out in the end, but it is going to be painful as we are hearing in Daddy Constars voice.

One would think they would have a crew out there last year fixing this stuff as their name is on it. We will probably never know as the details will be sealed when the settlement is complete. I will say this, Cole and family were too close to that whole build. They should have just let them do their jobs and not make content for the channel. They also should have made a few calls to fellow youtube farm channel folks or neighboring farms to get advice on things. I know Cornstar Farms, Cole and the entire family, can't really talk about what's going on with the Bin Site yet but dang'it that's so frustrating just to watch. I can't imagine shelling out that kind of money for what should have been a huge boost in productivity for the Farm and a great idea if implemented correctly. I truly hope you get things ironed out and it all made right plus a little for loss of time and money to get it all going the way it should have been from the start. As far as that motor burning belts it could be alignment but that would make me think it would be throwing belts not burning them. It actually sounds more like something to do with the auger in the bottom of the pit not being aligned properly or a bearing out, something creating that drag. You and all our farmers are still and always will be in my prayers. God Bless...

Dad never had any trash in his grain tank when he farmed back in the 60's and 70's, neither in corn or beans. He ran John Deere's and started with a Model 55 then went to a Model 95 and then to a Model 105 and ended up with a Model 4400. I guess that Dad must have known how to set everything on the combine so the grain was clean when it got to the tank.
