THE HARVEST/TILLAGE MACHINERY TOUR IS FINALLY HERE! No, this is not a John Deere Dealership, it is just my family's farm. We do have a lot of green and yellow paint, though. I hope that this video offers you some insight into the tools that we use to harvest and till our fields here in Central Illinois. Thanks for watching!
#TheFarmMustGoOn #FarmingSimulator19 #Farm #Illinois #Harvest
Andy is a 6th generation farmer from Central Illinois. On this farm, Andy works alongside his father, Marty, his uncles, Chris and Jeff, and his sister, Katie, to grow corn and soybeans on some of the finest dirt in the world. Andy and his family are deeply rooted in the area, operating a large farm that traces it origins back into the 1800s. Although some tracts did not stand the test of time, Andy and his family still grow corn and soybeans on fields that have been in the family for longer than even the oldest members of the farm have been alive. We do, we have, and we always will take tremendous pride in calling this piece of paradise our home. Andy was a Bronze Tablet graduate of the University of Illinois in the field of Crop Sciences, following the same path as his father and late grandfather.
It would be misleading for Andy to claim that this life is one that came by chance; rather, as a member of two multi-generational farm families, it was simply in his blood. His passion for agriculture traces back to his early youth--some of his fondest, earliest memories being of days spent riding in the combine with his father and grandfather. Although his understanding of the lifestyle was much less complex in the beginning, the love he has for farming, and its industry has only appreciated through time. As this dream blossomed into adulthood, Andy now works relentlessly, and tirelessly, to chase his own dreams and to build a farming operation of his own alongside his family.
We, as a whole operation, are handymen, electricians, mechanics, landscapers, accountants, economists, caretakers, stewards, and, most importantly, farmers, and we take an incredible amount of pride in our work. There is no challenge too overwhelming, no situation too stressful, and no problem too difficult for us to take on, and we want to take you along with us. Welcome to our farm and welcome to our lives. You have the best seat in the house to watch the everyday chaos of farming unfold--we usually only get concerned when things aren't going wrong!

Born and raised in Morgan County and graduate of Western Illinois University I am a huge fan of family farming. I retired from broadcast television production after a 35 year career. I love your videos the image quality and your edits are very professional. My only suggestion would be set up a better audio room and microphone for you voice overs. Your audio is a little flat. Your outside natural sound is very good but your voice overs are not matching your nat sound in your edits. So make sure the room you do your voice overs in is a really quiet and dead room (meaning no echo or reverb that will muddy sound recording). Invest in a really good microphone for indoor studio recording and use a pop/puff filter between you and the microphone. Your aerial photography is outstanding. I really love your work and I know that trying to farm and trying to produce your content is very difficult so I hope you don't think I am being to picky just trying to add a bit of professional advice. Keep doing the great work and know that it's appreciated.
@aTrippyFarmer
@aTrippyFarmer 3 жыл бұрын
I appreciate the advice. I do need to equip a room with some audio equipment and add additional sound dampeners to the walls. I’ve barely got the video stuff figured out... the audio is a whole other venture. It all can be a lot of work, but I try to improve every video. Thanks for watching and for the tips!

Each of those John Deere farm tractors are close to $200K each. Can't imagine how expensive those carbines and tillers are... Farming must be more profitable that I would have guessed... I wouldn't want to be a farmer, but I got curious about all the equipment after watching Jojo's shorts...
@aTrippyFarmer
@aTrippyFarmer 5 ай бұрын
This video is almost 4 years old now. Inflation and shortages over the last few years has driven prices up even higher than they were in this video. A reasonably sized combine without a header attachment is going to be $600,000 new. You can just averaged a soybean and corn header together for $125,000 each. A larger tractor is going to be $400,000 at a minimum. Some of the higher horsepower models can be $600,000 or more. Tillage implements are probably going to range from $100,000 to $200,000 brand new depending on what you get. Farming is expensive, but most of this equipment over decades. The equity continues to build up and be rolled into newer equipment when upgrades are needed. It isn't just purchased on day 1. Farm income is very cyclical. We have short periods of time where we make extremely good money per acre, and then there are usually longer stretches were there aren't absurd profits to be had. It is a long game!

Andy, Outstanding video, visuals were very impressive and I just have one question. How many hours did you put into this? Besides the great editing you did, moving all that equipment was a job!
@aTrippyFarmer
@aTrippyFarmer 3 жыл бұрын
Moving the equipment was the easiest part of the whole process... I’ve been driving tractors since I was a little boy. I’d speculate that it took me 4 hours to get the equipment out and film with the drone. It got dark on me when I was filming, so it took about 1 hour the next morning to put the equipment away. The drone footage of the equipment working wasn’t specifically filmed for this video. It was just a part of drone-edits in the vlog-style videos. I waited for those clips to finish the video because it helps the unacquainted understand the process a little more. I probably edited for 15-20 hours. The finished product wasn’t super long, but these projects take time and coordination. My normal videos are typically 1-2 hours of editing per 10 mins of finished product. Great question, and thanks for watching!

I have a 2730 disc ripper and its a completely different setup than what you are calling a 2730. You have a 2720, they are based on the 512 and have the option of a rolling basket. The 2730s have 2 disc gangs in the front with closing discs behind the shanks and the option for a rolling basket. The 2730s are based on the 2700s and are a completely different setup from what you have.

With your truck what did you mean by automatic manual transmission. Did you just mean you can choose you operate in manual if you want too like a newer pickup?
@aTrippyFarmer
@aTrippyFarmer 3 жыл бұрын
There are a few different types of automatic transmissions. An automatic in a passenger car and a semi might not necessarily be the same. I was just clarify the type of automatic!

So you dont use a grain dryer 4 your operation???
@aTrippyFarmer
@aTrippyFarmer 3 жыл бұрын
We haven’t dried grain in over 10 years. Our longest season corn is too dry some harvests. We are in a very nice region for corn production, but a drier would offer some different advantages and flexibilities. Thanks for watching!

We are more efficient with our production of grain than we have every been. Unfortunately, if we don't use herbicides to control weds, we would have to massively increase our tillage practices. This would mean way more fossil fuels used along with increased soil deterioration and erosion. There are no free rides here...
