I just replaced a 12 year old battery that wouldnt hold a charge but this was an GREAT easy to understand for the average person to do. Thank you for making this and thanks for doing it in a quick way.. Sometimes its 25 minutes and this was to the point. LOVE YOUR VIDEOS

The information conveyed in this video is very good, relevant and informative. Your camera work leaves a LOT to be desired. Stop moving so fast between targets and stay on that target for a bit longer. It would also be helpful if all your scenes were not zoomed in as tight as possible to begin with. Let your viewers get a sense of where what your filming is before you zoom in tight. Other than that Good Video.

Good advice and I'll keep that in mind. I'm kinda new to making videos and I do want to improve the quality of my videos so I appreciate the honest feedback.

Thank you for taking the time to make this video. My Gator hasn't charged since I got it, so it's been getting a top-off from a battery charger every 2-3 days and hasn't been very helpful after dark, only being able to use the lights to scoot back to its 'bedroom' if I get caught out late. Wound up walking in with the battery one night after chasing goats. That was about a week ago and my search for a DIY solution led me to your video. I was getting 38vac out of the stator, but the 25A fuse on the regulator line was blown. Ordered a regulator off of Amazon, installed it, and went back to a 20A fuse. I also put a little dash-mounted volt meter on the switched side of the key, and it's showing 13.4 for the most part, and 12.8 when I run the lights. (I installed the voltmeter before doing the regulator swap--simply because it arrived a day earlier--and found a stead 11.5V when running, no lights, didn't even bother checking with lights on ;) ) Thanks again for sharing the information!

Great video! Also, if it’s still on the voltage regulator thn u can just cross-reference that part #. Thanks!

Thanks. They voltage regulators are often updated so I'd recommend going on deere.com and using your Gators PIN number to verify the latest part number. You may need to know what engine your Gator has also. There is a white ID tag on the top of the engine. Here is a link to a video I made showing how to look up the parts. kzbin.info/www/bejne/b3vKipaOf82ErK8 Even though you have s Gator go under the 'commercial mowing' section on deere.com.

I have a 6wire voltage regulator. How can I tell which ones are from the stator? Only measuring 6-9 volts AC from any 2 wires with it running. How do I know if it is the stator or regulator?

What is a common cause for the 20A fuse to blow?
@Mechanical_Mind Жыл бұрын
A short in the system. The most common issue I see on JD gators is a loose or corroded connection or a wire with damaged insulation, making contant with metal. It can be easy to fix but very difficult to find the problem. Also a faulty ignition switch or faulty component in the system for that fuse can be the issue but usually its a bad connection. Also make sure all the ground connections are clean and tight. I have fixed countless wiring issues simply by cleaning connections.

How are the 4x2 e gators in the sand?

I have been watching your video. I was going to try and check to see if the stator was working. You have a two-wire system. I have a 3-wire system. All wires are yellow. Which wires do I check. My voltage regulator has two wire harness hooking to it. It is a lot larger than the ones you show. Can you give me some directions on hoe to trouble shoot this.

I have a JD 620I gator. I replaced the voltage regulator. I checked the stator and I'm receiving ~ 40v ac as in your video. Any advice?

I have a JD 620I Gator with charging issues. I replaced the voltage regulator. I checked the stator yesterday like you did. I'm receiving ~ 40 vac. I checked all fuses that are under the passenger seat. Any recommendations?

You probably have a loose or corroded connection somewhere. Make sure the ground connections are clean and tight. I can't tell you how many times on gators I fixed electric issues just by taking connections apart, cleaning them and making sure they are clean and tight. Also it could be a broken wire. Use a multi meter to check for continuity through the wires. The loose, broke or corroded connection is more common issue on gators.

Was curious to see what your thoughts are. My stator tested the exact same as the one in your video but the 20a fuse keeps popping on my gator. So while I was reconnecting the leads to the voltage regulator I noticed that the bracket was sparking. My question is could the voltage regulator be bad and is causing itself to ground out to the frame of the mounting bracket and in return blowing the fuse?
@janssen5310 ай бұрын
Also when I bypass the fuse it puts a load to the stator and I can hear the stator whining

Check for loose broken or corroded ground connections. If you have a multimeter check for continuity throughout the connections and wires. The fix will be easy. Finding the issue is the hard part. I have fixed maybe Gator electrical issues just be taking connections apart, cleaning with a wire brush (on a drill) spraying with wd40 and reinstalling them. Also check fuses boxes are clean. Use compressed air and wd40 to clean them out. Wd40 will not hurt the electrical parts

Is 12.25 low voltage for a no crank no start . . my electric gate runs but nothing else.
@Mechanical_Mind14 күн бұрын
Yes. Fully charged it should read 12.6. Anything below 12.4 indicates it needs charging. The gate doesn't require nearly as much power as the starter motor so that's probably why it's working.

Hellow I have TX GATOR IS OVERCHARGING IT GIVES ME ABOUT 18V
@Mechanical_Mind9 ай бұрын
I'd first make sure all connections (including ground connections) are clean and tight. Free of rust/ dirt/ corrosion. If your stator is giving 40 ac volts then your voltage regulator is probably bad.
