That's what I was always told for 25 years, probe against the grain, not with it. Sides on round bales, and from the ends on square bales. All I can find on youtube is improper technique, but maybe they have no issues, and the probing with the grain is working, weirdness. I am wondering if I was taught or informed falsely, or these probes have changed
