Courtney, if this VID is not produced directly for me, nothing ever was! Wanted to upgrade from X540 to X700 series. When you see the difference in the machines, what u can do with the One series vs the X758, the opportunities the One series gives you are endless. Two deciding factors were the 3 point hitch (btw, the back blade I purchased from you looks and works beyond expectations) The other was the four-wheel-drive system. The x-700 series is a fluid drive always engaged. Sorta like an all-wheel-drive minivan. The one series is shaft driven and reacts like my Pick up! U engage it with a leaver, and without hesitation, You know it's engaged! The X700 has on soft or wet grass dug into the lawn. The one series, in two-wheel drive, never does that on a hard turn. Without a doubt, can't thank you enough for making me look at the One series. Deff was the right move!

I have two neighbors with 1023’s and they’re both happy with them. Ended up buying the Kubota B2601 which I’m still enamored with almost a year later, but, the 1 series was a close second,….just wanted something a bit bigger due to something one of my neighbors said once and something a tractor salesman mentioned to me once. Got the extra hydraulics and grapple on the front and the extra hydraulics on the back for implement angle adjustment. Get the extra hydraulics; it increases your tractors usefulness and versatility exponentially. For me, just adding the grapple was an increase in capability beyond conversation. If acquiring a tractor with a loader is a five, then adding a grapple is a ten. Rock, logs, brush,…..picks it all up just like a giant hand. Got the root rake (clam shell) grapple….. nice multipurpose design that I have yet to be disappointed with. But let’s be honest, any tractor is better than no tractor…….

Bought mine new in 2015. Been a good little tractor so far. The quick attach deck and loader make it worth every penny over the other brands. My only complaint is the cut quality of the deck isn't that great. I still prefer mowing with my X720

I retired a Ford 640 (1956) and replaced it with a '21 JD 1025R with 60 hours. Sooo much easier. Maybe 30% less lift capacity at the 3-point (I had to cut 3" off a sub soiler and sold my 5' rotary mower - for what I paid for it - and replaced it with a 48" rotary). But that just means a little more time on task - not a problem for a retired owner. Power steering and quick detach/drive over mower attach are so nice.

The list is endless when considering the possibilities of what can be done with a sub compact. Best advice I can offer is to buy 1 while you're still young, your back will thank you. The stump bucket is an interesting looking attachment, I see lots of possibilities with something like that... Keep us updated on it.....

First I was looking to buy used, but after I add the attachments and upgrades I need it seems just buying new comes out about the same plus I get a full warranty. I am glad to see the single point hydraulic connector on the new 2021 model, and the other upgrades are all things I would of added to a used model. So looking to get the 2021 model TBL, winterized, plus a couple of attachments, Rim guard added and free delivery. My kids will be able to keep it or sell on later to get their inheritance back lol.

I bought my 1026 4x4 w/loader and tiller 8 yrs ago. It's been flawless for my 5 acres. It's only used for lawn maintenance, tilling the garden, and clearing snow off the driveway. It still looks like new. I just bought a small 71 acre farm and tried to use it till up some food plots....but, quickly found out it's WAY too small for this type of work. I'm gonna have to trade it in for something in the 40-50hp range. If you have a few acres and you're looking for a small tractor, you can't beat one of the small units. I wouldn't have one without the front loader though.

These videos are great tools for researching while shopping for subcompact tractors. Thank you for putting in the time to inform the public! I can't tell you how many hours I've watched of videos like this while deciding between a Kubota BX23S or the 1025r. I went back and forth but decided to get a 1025r with front loader, 260b backhoe, AV20F Grapple, and probably a frontier box blade (not sure which one yet). I have 5 sloped and wooded acres plus a large lawn, so this size is perfect to fit my needs. I can't wait to tackle stump removal, forest clean up, trail making, and grading for a sport court and shop. I don't buy the "you will always want something bigger" argument because one needs to figure out what will work for their property before they buy. I think proper research and testing would help eliminate that, but I'm sure it happens still! I've decided to go with the 1025r for several reasons: 1. I'm familiar with John Deer controls owning several riding mowers over the years. 2. I think the front loader is designed better 3. Position control for the rear implements 4. Ease of removing the 260b backhoe. 5. I liked the look of the JD better. My neighbor has a Kubota and is very happy with it. It will be fun doing joint projects which will provide some good comparisons on the two machines.

Agree with everything you said, EXCEPT... aftermarket fluids, as long as they meet OEM specs are every bit as good as OEM fluids. The Magnuson Moss Warranty Act passed in the 70s says that if a manufacturer requires OEM parts and fluids that is must be covered under warranty. Bottom line, the correct aftermarket fluids are fantastic. Thumbs up, and this video pushed me toward the JD, thank you!

I have a 2007 X728 (27HP), 45 Loader, front quick hitch, 54" snow blade, quick attach ballast box, and 48" deck. As of today, I have invested $10,500 into it, which is slightly more than 1/2 the price of a new 1025R with a FEL. Granted, the 1-series comes with a 3-point hitch, but since I don't already own any 3pt attachments, that's not a big selling point. The 2007 was one of the last years the X728 came with MFWD, and I'd rather have mechanical FWD, than HFWD, because it's easier to fix/repair something mechanical. My X728 also has tilt-steering and cruise control, and I was surprised to see that all 1+ series tractors don't include those as standard features. All that being said, my next tractor will be either a 1025R or a 2-series, and I'll still likely buy used to avoid the curb-charge.

I Know you don’t really advocat the backhoe, but we have 17 contiguous acres (11 wooded), and we have used ours for many numerous things. Latest was digging a french drain for a barn extension with a dry well at end. Also dig holes for 9 for trees for screening on property. Unfortunately dug two large holes for big dog owners in winter time (both dogs had passed away and were buried on each owners property). I also dug a 100 foot long trench for a septic access for an RV. The RV can now Park at a higher elevation and the owners can empty their grey water at home intoned their own septic (not all places they stop have access to this). There are other projects I have done with it as well. Best of all, makes awesome ballast when using loader and weight in winter moving snow.

Oh, almost forgot, I have 154 hours, only issue so far was the PTO switch breaking. To be fair my property is on the back side. Of a military crest, lots of slope. So with that being said, I am using that PTO switch often to run my mower deck in reverse as well as normallys tarting and stopping it. Very reliable.

Grew up on Green, happened into a lightly used BX2670 that came as a package deal with a house purchase. I was set on buying a 1025r but the price on the BX was right and it was set up with most of the implements I wanted. I am pleasantly surprised with how nice of a machine the Kubota is and how much work I can get done with that little thing. If and when it’s time to replace it the JD will get a long hard look, but I’m also becoming fond orange, lol. I’m not sure you can go wrong either way, thanks for the video

Additionally bought a from good works tractor: a dethatcher, pallet forks, and soon to pick up stump bucket with more items to come. However keep in mind if buying a 1 series tractor i do not think you can use a back hoe if you get the cab option. I think if one wants that set up you have to step up to the 3 series tractors. Good Works Tractor will be able to tell you if that is true. Thank you for the video Courtney. Tim

I want a 1025R for many things like a front loader, mowing and snow removal, but my city lot has 46 in sidewalks and I have a fence so I can't straddle the sidewalk. The 1025R is to wide and the X700 series is almost as bad and doesn't have the attachments like front loader. Mowing with either of these would work, but snow removal - especially with 50+ snow blades and snow blowers kills it for me. What's a guy supposed to buy?

At first I wanted a backhoe whenever I finally get the tractor. But now I'm against it in favor of renting a mini excavator and running TWO pieces of equipment. You can get 8 1 week rentals of a 10,000lb machine for the cost of these backhoes. You know how much work that gets done?! Each time I've rented a mini ex I wanted something small to run in between moving piles. I could have gotten so much more done

I purchased a 1025R in 2014 for my 2 acre property, with a 60" belly mower, a front-end loader, 3 point box scrapper, and 3 point/PTO broadcast fertilizer spreader. Detaching and attaching the appliances is so fast and easy, by far the benchmark in the small tractor category. After 9 years and 700 hours, the JD 1025R has been 100% trouble free and has paid for itself in money saved paying subcontractors. My only regret is that I didn't get the backhoe. Is there a cost effective way to add the backhoe? I've heard of people trying to add the backhoe with bad results. Too costly to add after-the-fact because of a needed subframe to prevent damaging the tractor?

I looked and drove a 1025r that a friend has and it is a great little tractor but to look at the prices that used ones are selling for, I had to go with Kubota BX2360. Just could not afford the green paint. I love the BX and it has done everything I've asked so tractor on. By the way even if I don't need something you show it is nice to see what is out there and what it can do. Thank you.

200th like . . . I had no idea that dethatcher was so versatile. It was very nice to see it work in real time . . . worked awesome! Who was filming, Steven Spielberg? Nice camera work! As an aside from outstanding cinematography and wonderful attachments for the famed 1025R, breakfast was homemade bread toast, steak, dunker eggs (eggs over easy) and homefries with milk so cold it could crack your teeth. She-who-must-be-obeyed (The Spandex Monster) would not allow me to eat my typical "Grim reaper of breakfast fare" as she put it . . . saying that I needed to get in shape. I told her I would . . . the moment she could take me in a fight . . . do you know that steaks can be used to heal black eyes? The 1025R on my monitor is coming more into focus by the minute! :)

Nice tractor, but where I am after doing lots of checking, John Deere cannot support me for if I have any issues with unit. It would be a long travel of Three days. I ended up with a Mahindra 25L which is on its way. I can get the service from them. John Deere was my first choice thinking that the service was there, but not the case. Mahindra is a great machine also, and hopefully all goes good. I like that stump bucket, I may need one. Ha!

Were you using position control or letting gravity do it's thing? I have been trying to use a 72 inch land scape rake on a sandy beach. Gravity lets it dig in too far and stops me. Trying to use position control, I makes hills and valleys. I bought gage wheels and they maybe the answer with practice. Your dethatcher looks interesting.

Any word yet on the availability of your stump bucket? Obviously it would be much less expensive than a backhoe. I want to clear some of our wooded acreage and eliminating stumps by getting them out of the ground. I have lots of this to do. Do I need a backhoe or will a stump bucket do the job? Isn’t there more power in the loader anyway?
