Love it. takes me back to when mechanics were allowed to touch lead and knew how to use a micrometer.

Aluminum foil balled up works great for this too! You can also modulate the hardness by how much you crumple in!
@TheDuckofDoom.Ай бұрын
Foil balls do not give results to the same accuracy, they are springy and flex more under normal micrometer force.

This one is interactive. Those planetary gears are massive. No wonder they get bad gas mileage 😂

Soft wire solder set in grease. Have to have the thicker shims in place so the remaining gap is small enough to crush the wire. Make it into a circle on the end of the axle.

You know.... I didn't see the icing returned after it was checked for thickness.

A time when mechanics were allowed to make basic tools, like a piece of flat iron with a nut welded to it. The safety people/lawyers put a stop to that.
@ShainAndrewsАй бұрын
@normcameron2316 No... field techs still manufacture and modify tools all the time.
@normcameron231628 күн бұрын
@@ShainAndrews Of course we do, we can't let bureaucracy get in the way, our job is to do. Just keep those home made tools in your toolbox and refuse to let anyone look. If they don't take it from you as a safety issue, they will claim you made it on company time and claim a patent.

Was this info dealer only or could end users of the equipment get it?
@jamesbieniek8290Ай бұрын
Probably dealer intended but back in the day the dealer would likely have shared. Not like it is today.

@@jamesbieniek8290 Yes back when JD treated the customer like a partner for mutual benefit instead of treating them as prey to be exploited.
