The speed and width that they can spray is incredible. 11,000 acres in 3 days is mind boggling ! All the other numbers are just crazy huge for 3 sprayers. Thanks for taking us along for the ride BTP ! Thumbs up always.

Hey I just wanted to give you a shout out to Churchville NY! I live in Webster, NY (other side of the City) grew up around the corner from a dairy farm and spent countless hours in the cab of the neighbors machines growing up loving tractors just like you! We now own and operate a small USDA certified vegetable farm so my dreams of driving tractors came true. Keep up the good work man, love your channel

Another great informative video.People don't understand that disease and fungus infections can ruin a crop in 24 hours.I learned that from peanut farming.No matter how many acres you farm if you can't spray it in less than 5 days,you can loose your entire crop.
@bigtractorpower5 жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching. Fungus can be really bad here in WKY because of humidity. I see it in my own lawn. One day it’s all green and over night rust pops up and it’s dead in patches. You have to spay fast here. Really if you start seeing blight your almost too late.
@joesteel12615 жыл бұрын
@@bigtractorpower It's the same with tomato spotted wilt virus in peanuts.It will be a small patch in the middle of the field and 24 hours later you will have patches all over the field and once it's there,no pods on the plant.We were only spraying with a 2955 john deere with a 300 gallon tank and 30' boom.It would wipe us out before we could get over.

@jb17655 жыл бұрын
Mark Stengel yes Mark, way cheaper than an airplane. As long as it’s dry, the farmers will always want to use a ground rig or someone who custom sprays.

Did they apply any fertiliser before planting when they worked the ground or did they plant the seed with urea

They apply lime and dry fertilizer in the September after the corn his harvested in August. The fields are disked and the wheat is drilled. Nitrogen is sprayed on in January and April.

The farm does not farm 92,000 acres they just run over their acres that many times with the sprayers. They actually crop just under half that many acres. I am not sure how large the biggest farm in the U.S. There are potato operations that farm in multiple states covering ground from the Dakotas to the Carolinas.

@bigtractorpower5 жыл бұрын
According to Case IH’s website a Trident 5550 list price is $325,246. The sprayer for the Trident is $69,361. You are looking at $394,607 for a Trident. The Trident is $100K less. I would sure like to see a Trident in the field.

What kind of drift control does this machine have. We all know buzzing across this field at 15mph in a cab your not going to feel the wind. A gust of wind comes up. RIP their go's the neighbors rose bushes,fruit trees and half the yard.
@3.6roentgen615 жыл бұрын
That's why you can only spray in good conditions. If it's too windy you can't go. Also you have products that you mix in with the pesticides to help stop drift.
@justind60395 жыл бұрын
You use drift control agents along with good drift control nozzles. Keep in mind they are spraying fungicide. Fungicide will not kill the neighbors anything. It the neighbor was smart the neighbor would thank them for a little drift.
@bigtractorpower5 жыл бұрын
Justin D you are 100% right. I joked with Matt about swing by my house with the R4045 to spray my lawn. With 80 degree days rust and fungus sets in fast on a lot of plants at this time of year including lawns and rose bushes.
@bigtractorpower5 жыл бұрын
Good question. If it’s windy they do not run. In this case with the fungicide it’s not going to hurt anything. I joked with Matt about bringing the R4045 to spray my lawn to prevent rust and fungus in the grass that starts around this time of year. For herbicide they mix in products in with the seed killer that are sticky and heavier so as they spray it drops and sticks to the weeds and plants and does not blow.
