I'm very happy with my S240. I went with the 43" deck. I mow around a lot of trees. It turns tight, runs great and cuts great. I keep my grass at 4 inches.

This is year 2 with my S240 - Absolutely love it - cut my 2:15 cut time down to 1:35 with the 54 inch deck. Now my wife and and fight over who's going to mow the 1.8 Acres :)

That's a lot of money/finance charge for a "D" series body and deck quality with a really nice motor and a descent transmission.

Love my S240. I mow for 6 neighbors in the summer & plow them in the winter. Runs like a Deere.

It's the best model. Kawasaki v twin, k46 trans and deep deck. Literally the best motor and trans in this price range I only have 1/4 acre lot lol. Sucks they are $3400 in my area.

My old mower died early July 2022. Researched online and called the dealer. Told him I wanted a S220 or S240. He told me forget the 220 and buy the 240 The Kawasaki engine is really nice - just wish it had a little more power. Looking for a turbo kit for that Kawasaki.

I’ve had the s240 for the last year, taking care of a hilly three acres. It’s performed well with plenty of power. Fortunately my dealer greased enough and properly leveled the deck, which isn’t always the case. My only complaint is that dealers generally can’t help themselves and have to stickerize their own brand on the tractor, often in multiple places. Step 1 is removing all of it, unless they want to pay for that local advertising. Good luck with it!

How steep is your biggest climb? I have a small, short, but pretty steep climb in my yard. I measured it to be about 30degree slope but only an 8ft elevation change. So, it's short but 30deg is kind of steep hill for a yard.
@Paine137 Жыл бұрын
@@pateric8874 I’m about 25 degrees around the house, and again it performs well. Instinctively I’ll shift my weight forward while in my seat, but there’s plenty of power with the Kawasaki engine. In your case, it might be worth looking into adding a couple weights on the front bumper, which JD sells at a premium of course.

@@pateric8874 Also, getting tires with a beefier tread can also add traction, but often it can be aggressive on grass elsewhere. Some trial and error is just required.

Bigger can do smaller but smaller has trouble doing bigger. I had a Husquvarna 38 inch and it took 1.25 hours to mow the lawn. With my S240 42 inch it takes only 45 minutes to do the same job. The S240 can mow faster than the Husky. It really is "how well you mow fast"

Install a JD "spinner" on the steering wheel. Makes a great power steering alternative. ($15.00 part in 2020)

Any hills you need to climb? If so, how steep?
@queenrocks77 Жыл бұрын
Yes, the reason I bought this mower is because I have a steep hill in my back yard. It’s pretty steep. I try to go down it when I mow.

Financing for 60 months at $71/month?! Depending on what you paid that’s like a 10-15+% interest rate. It’s almost another $1k on top of the current mower price ($3.4k). Unless this is an absolute need (which it’s not for most), push the yard, save up and pay cash or wait for a 0% deal.
