Someone get this man a shop light and some gear wrenches. Oh and I learned that the easiest way to put the wheel on is to put the key in afterward. The slot goes all the way to the outside of the shaft so it's really easy to just knock it in with a punch after you slip the wheel on and line up the keyway.. or needle nose pliers like I did lol I just replaced my transmission with one from donor stx38 and the donor transmission is MUCH bigger.. It uses smaller brackets but everything bolts right up. The old trans had already lost 3rd gear when I bought it, and both 1st and 2nd would lurch like it was missing a tooth. After a season with 300lb+ ol me riding the poor thing it finally gave up completely. The donor trans is stronger, but no brakes.. which is why I'm here. My mower isn't as new as yours, it doesn't kick into neutral when you hit the brake.. but thats because I have a clutch? I couldn't see the left side of your mower to see if you had a clutch which makes me think you might have a hydrostatic trans? I don't think my brake setup looks like that, I don't remember seeing a big chunk of metal holding in a brake disk. Oh well, I'll figure it out. Cheers.
