"Drawing a vacuum on the fuel line" priceless! Thanks for showing us how it's done in the real world. Carburetors have always baffled me. I had to put the old carb back on after trying 2 worthless aftermarket cheap Chinese carbs. . I just had to replace the solenoid which worked fine even though it was off of the Chinese carb. . I think it's high time we bring back all manufacturing to the U.S. !!!!

So true, I ordered a cheap Chinese carb and when I installed it, it ran but had a miss and pop to it. So I just swapped the internals of the new carb and put them in my factory carb. It worked awesome. I don't understand why it was having issues with the new carb? But in the end with the new parts swapped it runs like new.

Great video MM1, I really enjoy your longer videos. When you do ones like this one there more in detail and educational. Thank you good Sir for all the hard work you do to show us how to fix our small engines. I can't speak for everyone... Bit I know you've saved me a bunch of money frome watching your channel.

It gets old with people (keyboard mechanics) jumping on my back about using starting fluid... claiming i'm going to blow the engine up etc. I always send them the link to the Project Farm video where he ran a briggs quantum for like 30 minutes on pure starting fluid... Great video. keep it up.

OMG I almost fell out of my chair laughing !!! The suck and blow..... 🤣😂🤣
@lisab33962 жыл бұрын
OK boys an girls, lesson today is "suck an blow" your carburetor. 😁 OK I admit that I haven't done that before and looks like a fine demonstration for confirmation that the bowl seal, float and jets are working. Now then you heard it right, She has a good idle and She's got good wide open throttle and she's good to go! To me, She sounds sweet and ready to chop anything that gets in Her way. 👍 Keep that thought in your mind boys. 😆

I use a fuel shutoff valve for any storage and run engine till it dies. Works well for me so far.
@garyalensr2 жыл бұрын
Same, I always run Trufuel in my rider and push mower and trimmer. I never use ethenol gas. But I still use a shut off and run till it shuts off. Better to be safe than sorry in my opinion

Usually I find those rubber o rings & gaskets are all swollen and distorted from the ethonal in the gas. Those carbs will always leak and no run right. You lucked out on that repair Mower Medic.

Thanks - i own a 2009 like this with 4 wheel steering. It has 780 hours now and has been shutting down on me after about 40 minutes, then no start until it cools down some. I may start by replacing the anti back fire solenoid. Then cleaning the carb like this video. My engine is a 22hp kawasaki. Love this mower, time to get it to run for longer time frame. Could be a coil or switch too, not sure. Might take to a repair shop to avoid agony and paying for parts i dont need on my ideas.
@jameshedrick68392 жыл бұрын
It's most likely a bad ignition coil or coils. Had the same problem with a push mower that did that replaced the coil and never had any starting issues when the engine is hot

Make sure your fuel line isn’t plugged up. Also check your tank for dirt and debris.

I love when they do that dump fresh fuel on top of very old fuel.

I've seen where some run straight gas in their chainsaw and burn up the top end and then put mixed fuel in it and try to get it fixed under warranty
@TheIronDuke5022 жыл бұрын
One thing that I noticed was that when you released the old gas from the carburetor was that the gas was green like it had algae. To be quite honest, I never had the displeasure of working on any of the Nikki Carburetors. Looks like mostly plastic to me The X330 lives again!!!

I've replaced so many of those nikki carburetors because like you said sometimes cleaning them doesn't work. And surprisingly when i bought my generator a few years ago it sat with old gas in it and cleaning it in my ultrasonic cleaner got it up and running like new again then i just went and gave it a tune up
@watermanone75672 жыл бұрын
I get lots of those Nikki carbs in my shop and hate them. The older ones don't even clean good in my ultra sonic cleaner. I heard that Walbro might make a replacement but have not seen one yet??? Great video, more bad ethanol gas. Do you know of a replacement for the Nikke carbs? Thanks much.
