Thank you for this very helpful video! I just bought this mower used. It has set for 2 years unused. I bought the kit from our John Deere dealer and I needed all of this information. I'm a 75 yr old female and have never done this type of thing so I am very happy you posted this. Thank you again. :) Mow on! Yahoo!

I have the same exact Mower, as you and I take really good care of it. Nothing runs like a Deere.

"Gap tool" - I dated her too :D it was called a 'feeler gauge' in my gearhead days. Very thorough spring cleaning; that's why you will be passing that down to your grandkids and not the junkyard

It’s a great model. I have .5 acres and it’s a quick mow. For a standard residential lot it’s hard to beat. If you have a lot of wide open acreage, go with a 60”, but just know you’ll be restricted through fence openings. Thx!

Very good. Up north here it gets cold in winter so I store mower in non-insulated shed full in of non-ethanol gas. If tank is empty during off season, the fuel tank will collect moisture via condensation with temperature fluctuating.

One thing I would add is (especially over the Winter months), keep a "battery Tender" on the battery, so it stays fully charged. I have one on my John Deere all year long (even Summer), so it starts instantly. (and helps battery life). The battery tender is a trickle charger, so it won't overcharge the battery.
@durk19802 жыл бұрын
Yep, totally. I trickle charged it while cleaning, but over the winter I’d disconnect it and slow charge it every month or so. Excellent advice.

Probably the simplest mower to do maintenance on!!! These a kinda similar to the 345r or m right now I have an e120 tractor but I want a zero turn mower its a toss up between this mower or the stand on 648 from john deere looking at this video I might get this type of mower since I'm a sit down kinda guy anyway don't get me wrong love stand ons but if maintenance is this easy on these mowers and cheaper price why not get this mower or the 345m great video! It helping make my decision

Thanks, just getting ready to do my first maintenance on my z345 mower. I have to ask, what is that covered hole area in your garage. I’ve never seen anything like that.
@durk19802 жыл бұрын
Lol, that’s the batcave! That’s what my kids called it. My wife’s only condition to moving to north AL was the installation of a storm shelter. They cut your garage floor, dig a hole, plop it in, and backfill around it. It was awesome. We stored a bunch of water and emergency supplies down there. Never used it (thankfully), but it was awesome to not have it take up any space.

hi. does this mower have an adjustable seat with the lever or do you have to adjust the bolts underneath? Great video thanks!

You have to adjust the bolts underneath. Thx!

Do you have to let air bubbles escape when you put gas in yours ? On my z345M I can only put a little gas in at a time then have to wait 15-20 seconds and let it go down then put more gas in it about 20 times to fill the tank all the way up.
@durk19802 жыл бұрын
Hmm. Nope, just fill it up in one pass. Maybe there’s a partial blockage???

Did you upgrade the seat? Mine doesn’t have that nice of a seat. I just bought mine from Lowes.
@durk19802 жыл бұрын
Nope, stock seat. I bought mine from a John Deere local rep, not a box store. My upgraded model has armrests, over the one just below it. Not sure if the seat is any different than the model below it TBH.
@Bjordy72 жыл бұрын
@@durk1980 That’s awesome! Hey does your machine have rust inside the intake air duct? Idk the proper terminology but the big hole right behind the seat. Mine has a lot of heavy rust. I didn’t expect that in a brand new machine.

Prime that oil filter before installing!!
@durk19803 жыл бұрын
I did. I say it quickly, but I did take some oil and wipes around the gasket. My old Cub Cadet had a filter faced up, so I filled it up and then installed it. This one goes in sideways so if I poured any oil in prior to install, it would leak everywhere.
