For all his success, John Denver remains an underrated singer/songwriter. He was able to write the most beautiful uplifting soul searching lyrics wed to richly woven melodies. His RCA period between 1969 and 1986 is filled with gems across a number of brilliant albums.

@@paulineh4019 Hi Pauline! Are you a John Denver fan too!? Seems like it! I bought Denvers complete RCA albums collection in 2011. His later albums I didnt purchase unto recently. I agree with you. There all are strong albums. So sad John Denver died in 1997. His career was on an upward turn again and hed probably make more albums.

Hi @Thomas Marthinuss. Yep a fan from way back. Kinda lost him for quite a few years...life getting busy etc...but found him again about 6 months ago. Been busy since catching up with his newer, to me, stuff, Which I love as much as his older songs. Amazing lyricist, guitar player and humanitarian :) I still have 8 original albums, lost Poems, Prayers and Promises somewhere :( Have started my CD collection of Johns plus a few DVDs. Love pretty much all his songs. His newer and older, different but still wonferful. I can hear his lyrics over and over, then one day, I hear a completely different meaning!

Thomas, yes his career WAS heading upwards at the time of his death. The week following his death, there was a planned appointment with a recording company...to sign the contract. How much we have all missed out on hearing from this gifted artist :(

He matured alot with his divorce and how he looked at life....how he chose to reflect and strive to better himself. Yet I feel somehow he was always missing a piece of himself.....no matter how he tried to cover it up.....to me it stands out.....sad. Life is so challenging......ego can really mess with your internal psyche....especially if your gifted...solitude and grounding yourself almost cannot happen...he must of felt abandoned and betrayed later in life and felt stuck....unable to move ahead and live his life the way he wanted to ....free..with integrity and honor...God bless you John ..Lord knows you tried and to me at least....you were one of the best....a true fan.....R.I.P..❤😇

To listen to. But as the son which you kind of know him as your real father he gave you the best of things in life. So please say something nice about this man I think he deserves it. Good video. Three observations: (1) I just read John Denver's autobiography. It's odd what he says here about having integrity, because, unbeknownst to his wife Annie, he was very intentional about having sex with women while on the road, going back to the very first couple of months of their marriage. He felt it was his entitlement after "making love" for two hours to his audience. (2) He's correct about media outlets having an intentional practice of lying to the public. (3) His mentality of expecting to receive enormously expensive training and a flight into orbit on someone else's dime doesn't strike me as high integrity.
