I was brought to USA when I was just 10 years old. 21 years later living here, this has become where I call home.. yet I am still not considered a citizen here. If I were to ever be deported, this would be the song I told myself I'd play in my protest. I pay all my taxes and take no part in any government benefits; I even applied to serve in the army here to show gratitude, but was denied.. I still Bless this place for what it stands for! God bless us all....

I've always loved this song, and I grew up in NYC. It has a bitter-sweet quality that fills you with joy and a longing for home at the same time. Like all great songs, it has a universal appeal that touches the heart. I suppose that's why, even though I've never been to West Virginia, when I hear this song, I begin to miss it.

Heard this song twice. Im a random dude that lives in Kansas City. I cater sometimes in Downtown KC and twice ive catered for West Virginia in a tournament for the Big 12 both men and women. The camaraderie of the University, this song playing when I observed them winning and practicing with this playing, just truly seemed like a great school and super nice staff. I know this song from my childhood. I'm from Belgium... but when I flew with a group of ladies from west Virginia on my flight Doha to Washington, (Im a flight attendant), we talked about this song. They were surprised I knew the song. But I told them I grew up watching American movies and tv shows. Towards the end of the flight, I sat on my hunches next to them and a few of them knew the lyrics apart from the main part so we sang it together. It was so nice.
