This song was written at the height of the cold war in 1984. There was considerable angst amongst the youth in Europe as to whether or not they would die in a nuclear holocaust. I was 34 at the time and had just come back to Laguna Beach from living in Sydney. How I missed this song at the time I cannot even imagine. Musical talent does not get better than this.

I love the music from your era. It tops everything for me. These songs have life and meaning. It's good you want to do things differently. You know, the Bible tells us we have a second chance, a chance to be young again on earth. I came across it at Psalm 37:10,11 and 29. It says we can live forever on the earth and that there will only be good people. Revelation 21:3-5 tells us Gods promise for how the earth will be. You can be young again. I don't know what it's like to loose your youth because I'm only 16 but we all want to be young forever because that was our purpose from God. I feel like I can trust this promise because God never lies so I wanted to share this with you.

Today I was in another room, and heard my 7 year old son singing this song, and I felt myself in him. That part of me that was innocent, compassionate, trusting, and hopeful... Before life became what it has. It reminded me of one of the most important things a father can do for his children: protect their innocence while you can.

Every time I listen to this song, it brings me to tears. It reminds me of loved ones who have passed away, and it also makes me reflect on the state of the world today. It's such a sad and emotional feeling. So many songs from the '70s, '80s, and '90s were truly great. Even though I'm only 50, I often wish I could go back in time to fix some of my mistakes and try to save the loved ones I've lost. But regardless, I really love this song.
