Alejandro continues to knock me out even after all these decades of writing, recording and performing. Saw him a couple of months ago on tour with Jason Isbell & his band. Fantastic show. Escovedo's band was just a trio but it was probably the most stylisticlly diverse show I've ever heard from him. And his voice is still strong. This was a spectacular version of "Sally Was a Cop" from the brilliant album 'Big Station'.

A band of heavy hitters showing exactly what they are capable of. Tremendous take of a wonderful song. Love Sheila E's look of joy at the 5:09 mark. She really is the low-key hero on this song amongst titans.

Great song and cast of musicians! Look at Lloyd Maines kick ass on that steel guitar. He’s such a down to earth guy. Sheila E, Alejandro’s niece, was a great addition to the group. I remember seeing her at the Paramount Theatre for the Por Vida concert in ‘05. She played the drum so fast her hands literally blurred. Those two nights of Por Vida are in my top ten best concerts ever!

What a great group of folks Alejandro has there. Seen him play many times at a small club in El Paso.

John Doe is a deity. For as many cigarettes as John smoked (don't think he does anymore), his voice is remarkably intact. The singing on last year's X album was gorgeous.

@scottmccullo Amen! The first time I saw him play was at the old Saengerhalle, outside New Braunfels. He was playing solo that night more than 20 years ago. I’ve seen him many more times since… He’s priceless

Although commonly associated with his adopted hometown of L.A., John Doe was originally a Baltimoron -- same for Talking Heads' frontman, David Byrne. Another notable musician original to Maryland who later relocated elsewhere (although I'm not sure he was a fellow Baltimorean) was Frank Zappa
