John Mayall, my idol and the father of British blues, passed away on July 22, 2024, leaving a void that words can scarcely describe. To me, he was more than a musical genius; he was a beacon of light in my loneliest times. His music was the soundtrack to my life, resonating through every high and low, guiding me through confusion with his soulful melodies and heartfelt lyrics. The connection I felt to him was profound, as if each note he played was a lifeline, binding me to the solace and understanding his music provided. Throughout his remarkable career, John Mayall's creativity and innovation knew no bounds. He wasn't just a musician; he was a storyteller, a mentor, and a relentless explorer of sound. His ability to discover and nurture talent is legendary, with the Bluesbreakers serving as a launching pad for some of the greatest musicians of our time. But beyond the fame and accolades, it was his genuine love for the blues and his unwavering dedication to his craft that truly set him apart. His music was a reflection of his soul-authentic, raw, and deeply moving. As we mourn his passing, we celebrate the legacy of a man who transformed the landscape of music and touched the hearts of so many. John Mayall's influence will forever echo in the annals of blues history and in the hearts of his fans. His spirit lives on in the timeless tracks he created, offering comfort and inspiration. For me, his music will always be a reminder of the connection we shared, a guiding force through the silence of his absence. Rest in peace, John Mayall. Your music will forever be the light in our darkness.

It is with heavy hearts that we bear the news that John Mayall passed away peacefully in his California home on July 22, 2024, surrounded by loving family. Health issues that forced John to end his epic touring career have finally led to peace for one of this world’s greatest road warriors. John Mayall gave us ninety years of tireless efforts to educate, inspire and entertain. In a 2014 interview with The Guardian, John reflected, “[blues] is about - and it’s always been about - that raw honesty with which [it expresses] our experiences in life, something which all comes together in this music, in the words as well. Something that is connected to us, common to our experiences.” That raw honesty, connection, community and playing of his will continue to affect the music and culture we experience today, and for generations to come. An appointed OBE (Officer of the British Empire), 2x Grammy-nominated artist and recent inductee to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, John is survived by his 6 children, Gaz, Jason, Red, Ben, Zak and Samson, 7 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He is also surrounded with love by his previous wives, Pamela and Maggie, his devoted secretary, Jane, and his close friends. We, the Mayall family, cannot thank his fans and long-list of bandmembers enough for the support and love we were blessed to experience secondhand over the last six decades. John closed that same Guardian interview by reflecting further on the blues, “To be honest, I don’t think anyone really knows exactly what it is. I just can’t stop playing it.” Keep on playing the blues somewhere, John. We love you.

Superb touch, tone to die for, dynamics, creative notes, feel, taste, beautiful chords, masterful right hand work, right note at the right time, chops for days, etc. I can go on forever. To me Gary Moore and John mayall means alot because i may not have much experience in this life at 26 but sadly last year I lost the greatest young love I'll ever know ... But at least Gary and a few other acts I have discovered are strictly for myself as selfish at it seems I mean it in the sense of they are the bands and artists that soothed my broken soul when I was locked in a deep and tormenting depression , the music was all I had and to this day still all I have at times when they get hard again The blues is always there in my heart and soul ♾️ I'm just an old blues boy after all so young but I feel so old like my days are already over ... Like John said it I miss my baby I miss her laying by my side ❤️🔥 sweet sweet blues baby thats all you need

You know, I've commented on the guitarists. But damn John Mayall on vocals and keys is killer. Pulls it all together.

I love you John Mayall and you too Bluesbreakers!!! I have going to your concerts for maybe 50+ years and Gary Moore you are fantastic. I love the Bluezzz... Can't wait til this mess we are going through is over so I can get back on the concert trail. I sure miss that. Stay safe and healthy so that we may see you play again.

The blues just put a smile in my face, the only music genre that can make you sad and happy at the same time. How is that possible? Very powerful stuff. I could swear I heard Gary's guitar cry or am I imagining?

For me the ultimate music is the Blues. I love the American and English Blues which makes me happy and sad at the same time. I really think God sent it to us to relive our pain from this evil world.

Being a 75 years old fart from Germany I totally agree with you, Mike! Looking back in time I must say, it's not only the younger generation that misses in my opinion something I would call the "foundation" of today's music. It's much more, the spirit , the feeling and the discoverer mentality of the 60's, 70's and maybe , I'm not really convinced of it - the beginning of the 80's in music and lifestyle, both going together like a fist on the eye. In our time we really discovered music, because we as younger people were more or less stiff bored of that what was mostly presented by commercial radio stations. And besides music from Beat to Jazz Rock, Fusion, Pop Rock, Hard Rock, Metal, from Soul to Hip Hop or any other music direction I found out, that the Blues and it's variation possibilities was and still is a kind of music to witch I can withdraw and sink into it. I've seen both Musicians, John Mayall and Gary Moore a few times live in concerts or festivals in the last 40 years, but unfortunately never together on stage. But these memories of both will last until I close my eyes forever!

Totally agreed. I'm still young, 66, missed the early 60s, but moved to London in the mid 70s just to suck in all the vibes, love, music. Saw the greatest bands and learned to play the guitar there

God bless John Mayall as well...his voice is the sweetest one in Brirish Blues, he's the Godfather of British Blues!

This song reminds me about my wife. It was her favorite song before she lost the battling to cancer, I wish I could change the hands of time, I miss her smiles, she was always there for me and our lovely daughter, and I never miss a moment with her, life could be so unfair most times, there is some pain, I will cry in vain but won’t let you know how I will feel yes, I will miss you to the core! but some times i wonder why bad thing always happen to good people. She’s always in our heart.
