Hi Paul. I've got my Unipre 4knobs to install it on a Warwick $$. I already installed it without using copper foil(just to give a try how it sounds) and it's an amazing big improvement. I will take it off again to shield it with the copper foil tape. For first time I'm dismantling a bass myself. But it seems I have to replace the flush mounted output jack. I see this kind of jack has a toothed ring on one side and a hexagonal ring facing the internal electronics cavity. Please do you have any idea of what kind of tools i have to use to tighten this jack? Any special wrench or tool for that toothed ring? Thanks in advance.

+Sixta Pena if there is space in the cavity, then you can put the jack in loose and tighten the internal nut up instead of the external one. The other way is if the external one also has a small slot on either side of the ring, you can then use needle nose pliers or even 2 small screwdrivers. Its very easy to slip though and mark it. Try going from the inside.

Hi Paul. Great video, very informative. How would you clean cracky pots with this pre-amp? My Volume/blend knob is cracking a bit and I couldn't find any information on this. I watched your video on cracking pots but it seems that it is different with the JohnEast pots. Regards, Axel

+Lexa001 I would approach it the same way. But if the pots are too sealed and there's no way to spray contact cleaner in, then it may be that you have to replace them. Sometimes as a temporary fix you can turn the pot back and forth quickly for a good amount of time and see if it clears. Otherwise replacing them would be the option. As they are quite specific(in terms of size) to the preamp you may have to get the pot from John East. The modules are separate so as a last result buying a new module would be a somewhat expensive but good solution.

I was laughing really hard because I bought a ACG EQ-01 filter and went through the same thing trying to figure out how I was going to line it up. I felt your pain but like me you came up with a happy medium.

Hi paul, nice video! May I know the cavity size of the bass? wanna buy the pre but not sure if it would be too big. Thanks!

Hello Geoff, thanks for watching. It's about 31.5mm deep, 65mm wide and 117mm between the 2 longest points. It was very difficult making it fit, I had to be very neat with the wiring and try several configurations before it would work. I hope that helps.

Hi Paul. A question about the unit... Does the passive tone operates in both active and passive modes? thank you :)
@pauljazzbass8 жыл бұрын
+Sixta Pena it does seem to have a slight effect. I'm not sure if it's supposed to. I keep it fully turned one way when I'm in active mode. When it's turned the other way the tone to my ears suffers a little. Although its a subtle change.

+Sixta Pena in passive mode it does change the tone.
