My first pot stone in 1967 included Ballad of Blind Joe Death. I’ve been truly alive since then. Thanks JF. Open tuning is … open to all.

Thanks for this. I used to see Fahey at the Jabberwock in Berkeley, between '64 - '68. I was a budding guitarist, and John forever placed his stamp on me. I love the way he can play real slow, as in "The World Is Waiting ...". Back then he didn't mix the whiskey and coke before he went on stage. Just came out with a bottle of whiskey and a large glass of coke. A swig of whiskey, then a swig of coke! A mesmerizing guitarist and composer.

Are you serious? Well, it might be a good way to loosen up, get some inspiration, or overcome a stage fright.

John Fahey is an icon, he was a pioneer. I remember discovering about him in the 90's. I still have got his vinyls. Now, talking about the habits by some performers, of bringing on stage a bottle of a good drink with them. I think it has been widely accepted by the industry and they are allowed to do it. He was a very laid back person, and that was his way of life. I'm thinking about people who have stage fright. I am not sure if that would be a good way to overcome the problem, apart from the some mental exercise.

Thanks for this! Great to hear a montage of familiar themes with some unrecorded new ideas. Musta been a hot spotlight :)

You're right, I didn't know it was John's take on another tune, thought it was his original, thanks for letting me know

@@trashbirdie I'm just getting to know Fahey's work, but from what I've learned, he listened and studied Brazilian music. As a Brazilian, it would be a shame not to honor the music of this magnificent guitarist Baden Powell. Thank you for the music and for your attention, my friend.

@@daniel108pc Fahey was a fan and a supporter of Bola Sete, my other favorite Brazilian guitarist - though Baden edges him out just a trifle. Fahey also put out at least one Bola Sete album.

@@russfitzgerald Yes I think he got it from Bola Sete who also played that theme. 'Ocean' is a great Bola Sete album on Takoma. Fahey played a lot of stuff he got from Bola around that time.
