Yaaaay, it's unblocked! You can see why John, our beloved Farnsey, is known as The Voice. He is also an Australian national treasure. His music catalogue spans over 5 decades, and if he hadn't been diagnosed with mouth cancer, which required urgent surgery to remove half of his jaw, he'd still be performing. Many radical surgeries and a few scares later, he is doing well and even singing round the house. John is not only loved for his talent; he is a genuinely good bloke, humble, generous and funny, always taking the mickey out of himself. Whenever there's a catastrophe such as drought, flood or bushfire, you'd find John using his considerable clout to attract both Aussie and international artists for a fundraising concert.

John Farnham has a world class voice...at the elite level. Adored and revered by most Aussies for his talent but also because hes just a knockabout bloke with real talent.

This would have to be the best cover version of a song . He made it his own and with respect to the Beatles who I luv btw . I think it’s prob better than the original. The emotion that John draws on and his vocal range is stunning 😮. Glad we finally got to see your reaction Mike 😊

This is one of the greatest versions of John’s arrangement of this Beatles classic. Another version was in 1990 live in Melbourne where he did the Beatles version followed by his arrangement, it was incredible, but this one is amazing too.

Originally a classic number 1 hit song from the Beatles. John rearranged this classic Beatles pop song to ballad by mucking around on his home piano. John Farnham released his rearrangement in midway through 1980 about 5 months before the songs writer John Lennon was killed. Apparently Elton John is and was friends with both John’s and through Elton John , John Lennon heard John Farnham’s version apparently . But John Farnham said he never got any feedback while John Lennon was still alive within those 5 months. Paul McCartney has given John Farnham some credit on his rearrangement saying ; we the Beatles felt obligated to record Help as Beatle ish pop John Farnham version brings the songs the true essence out of because it was John Lennon’s first self reflecting song with lyrical depth. John Farnham’s version peaked at 8 on The Australian charts . John Farnham’s version was produced by Little River Band’s founding member songwriter rhythm guitarist Greaham Goble and features some members of LRB plus a very young Tommy Emmanuel on guitar with John’s band at that time . John Farnham joined LRB after in 1982 for 4 years and recorded 3 underrated albums with that band . This recording of the concert with MSO was in early 1989 .

Awesome. Unblocked finally. I see co.ments going back over 4 days, but only just came up for me. Haven't watched it yet, but have a feeling it's gonna be good. Great news today, John Farnham won the Logie Award for the documentary about his life and struggles to get to where he is today. Apparently it was highest selling documentary ever in Australia. So happy for him and his family.

You do have this in your collection. This didn't show up in the search when I looked before. John Farnham owned this song.

John first released his version of The Beatles classic song Help, in 1980 on his album Uncovered; which wa his first album after changing his name to John Farnham. The first public performance of his version, was at the Sydney Opera House in front of Queen Elizabeth II that same year. John Lennon was given a copy of Farnham's version, and was heard to say "This is how the song was meant to be sung! "; Lennon was apparently intending to record him singing Farnham's version, but was tragically killed later that year.

Congrats perseverance pays off, this is sung at the tempo that Mr Lennon wrote this, the Beatles speed it up for the movie at the behest of their manager to make it more pop like this has so much more feeling to words.

Thank you very much. Please pick live concert versions of John Farnham, Jimmy Barnes and other Australian legends. True talent always sounds better live than in a recording studio. I've been to many Farnham concerts and the last one (with Olivia Newton John) I went to with my 80 year old mum 8 years ago was amazing!

Sometimes the requestor chooses the exact video, so that is what I react too. However, if they don't choose, then I will definitely choose the live version. The trouble is, there is SO many different live versions to choose from...
