All I can say is.....John is gold. "This can be red" makes me smile every time that I think of it. I've used it as kind of a meme response for when I'm not happy with something. And.......why the hell do we get regurgitated superhero movies month after month when the Whittington Racing story is out there? C'mon John, pitch it!

What?? He is basic and appeals to the average shlep yes but - 1st Story: she’s very intelligent and is an expert in film right? She’s not autistic or rain man so she does know the car brand and how paint works, it’s a tactic to make sure you DO NOT make her life difficult, it’s a maneuver, a tool of mental manipulation and she won. YOU LOST. She beat you. You did not have the patience and BALLS to confront her even politely and say ‘excuse me but our business doesn’t have multiple colors of the same car in stock, a red one would have to take X amount of time to find another, are you okay with that time frame to get another car in red? ‘. You failed the test. You didn’t navigate the social exercise fairly and diplomatically, now should you? That’s your biz to decide, do you want the client? Buttttt that’s the reality, she tested you on her parameters and you failed, she won the verbal spar. You didn’t confront and challenge. It’s a tool her type uses to make your type cave and fold you did apparently very quickly. My sister is high level theatre and professor of dance and director and I know allllllll about it! So FYI, this is what happened, you’re not familiar with that world and her type and you were inexperienced and got stumped with navigating that type of social demand and social interaction. Period plain and simple !!

I worked in New York commercials in the 70s and 80s which was the heyday of crazy expensive ads. John says there are dozens of people in advertising who say 'this can be red' and expect the car to magically change color. There were hundreds. It was endlessly amusing

A couple of comments: You're breaking my heart with the black bathtub Porsche....I had a chance to buy one for a super low price but I was working my way thru my Master's program in an engineering school. The only way I was making it was thru grants, moneys from chemical research, and teaching for the college. My teaching associate monies were barely putting beans on the table....let alone buying the Porsche. And another one got away...... It happened to me when I graduated from high school, also....that was a '58 Corvette. What did I do???? Went to college instead of Vietnam.....sigh. A third comment; You have perfectly captured the essence of New Yorkers....I've worked with them.....totally oblivious to real life and super entitled. At the time I was driving an old 1959 VW bus...... I've been tuning, overhauling, loving cars since I was 8 years old. I worked my way thru undergrad tuning multi-carbed muscle cars and the occasional Jag XKE.

The LT-1 Caprices weren’t up to the task of law enforcement or highway patrol. We had a fleet of them in the early 90’s and they all suffered from constant overheating as the cooling systems just couldn’t keep up in the middle of the summer, idling for 10-12 hours a day as police cars often do on asphalt with the A/C on. Otherwise, the Chevy’s were a bit quicker and overall faster than their Ford Crown Victoria counterparts, but the 4 speed automatic transmissions, the 4L60 I believe, in the Chevys just did not last. By the mid 90’s, we were a fleet of Crown Victorias exclusively, which was refined over the years to become bullet-proof. Police agencies all over the country miss the venerable old Crown Vics.

Slight addendum to hopefully help any potential uninitiated last generation 9C1 Caprice buyers: The LT1 was a popular OPTION on the 9C1 and a lot of cars have them, but there was also a 4.3L V8 (yes, an SBC based v8 displacing 4.3L) that looks EXACTLY like an LT1 externally but makes about the same HP and a little less torque as a TPI 305. If you’re buying one, make sure to verify by the 8th digit of the VIN it’s an actual LT1 car. You can be fooled by the 4.3 on a regular, non “spirited” test drive but you will be disappointed the first time you really want to see what it can do if you were expecting LT1 power.

Amount of miles from 1 point in the us to another. I don't remember which points in our country though. I know they've mentioned it on vinwiki before.

The 2904 was John's rebirth of the Cannonball Run that ran from 2007-2017. Rules said that the budget was $2904 for the car, fuel, tolls, tickets, etc. John did a bunch of videos on it.
