John Force is to nhra that Richard Petty is to Nascar. John could just show up and sign autographs and his fans would come.

Timely program Wes. Thanks for putting all this out there. Two thumbs up from Dr Ron and all the guys at Dr. Ron Racing.

I’ve been a fan of John since I was a kid growing up less that 5 miles from his house. I’ve been to his shop and been waiting for a autograph numerous times but always became star struck. The question is like to hear is what was the g force he endured with the initial impact. We know from formula 1 or nascar. Tho I will miss John as a driver I think he will still be a huge part and still an ambassador to our sport. As is Darrel Gwynn .

I think it’s time for John to retire and use his name and personality to promote his team and live out the rest of his life in the easy chair……!

What if the chute release system was reconfigured to work something like the air brakes on a train? That is, instead of using the gas pressure to drop the chutes, you do it the other way around. The pressure from the gas cylinder would prevent the chute from deploying. As soon as the pressure is reduced below a certain psi, it would automatically drop the chutes, whether the driver does it on purpose at the end of a run, or something happens that causes a break in the system -- like a catastrophic engine explosion. Just a thought.

People concerned with it malfunctioning. For classes that have other sanctioning bodies to run in, I know people who refuse to race in the NHRA due to malfunctions in the safety system costing them a race. Just my guess.

Yes, for sure John is a legend. I never say this about me being a legend, but if I am a legend, he’s the real legend of the man I got my ass kicked by the man got a T-shirt and had lots of good times with him when I was struggling, he would always come see me and ask me could he help? How much better can you get the Man? Love you, John

I’m a John Force fan, but I think the NHRA would be foolish to license John. TBIs are no joke. They need to protect John from himself.

John is left with no options as I was when I loss my job after 40 years! We were both on the top. I didn’t get to say goodbye but John can…. I would love nothing more then to have John’s daughter drive his car with John standing up waving through the sun roof! John will be a legend to drag racing and will always be….He’s very lucky to have raced for so long! Not too many people get to do what they love as he did. Wishing you a speedy recovery! 😘😘

As a hardcore Nascar fan from the early 70's, i empathize with drag racing fans. Mostly fans are on a need to know basis. And the answeres we get are vague which causes more speculation. On a different note, i saw John Force in the mid 80's at New England Dragway and got his autograph. Its one of my favorite memories. 😊😊

As a competitor (sportsman Top Alcohol funny car)I really appreciate the danger. I am also a John Force fan. I have been a fan of Johns for 40 years. I feel closer to John at times than my Friends. This is possible because of his open ,welcoming style. You feel what he feels. His personality style draws you in as a lifelong friend. So naturally you develop a huge bond. You know the dangers but you also know that as a drag racer the inherent risks will be discovered and fixed. Every major safety innovation is from an accident.John has survived this and worse but you recognize that this time maybe the last. Motor sports is in an odd spot Unlike other sports that have heros that are a major marketing draw Drag racing heros could die doing what made them famous.

John Force will decide. If he does decide to hang up the helmet, he goes out winning, second in points only to his other car, and as always fighting for his next chapter. Cant wait to see what that is for us fans and his family!

Alan begrudgingly gave his explanation after telling us we didn't need to know. Wouldn't be surprised to find the Leahy disabled and there's a lot of scrambling to get an official story together

Have you considered that even when people have legitimate reasons to enquire, they don't always have the proper way to ask their question. Being aggressive and/or condemning in questions doesn't get anyone anywhere.

Yall done fired me up! I had no clue the powers that be were sending their henchmen to go after anyone questioning this situation. I have 42k tiktok followers and almost 100k across social media, I think I'll add nhra to my content. I too wanna know what's going on and I have a voice so it's time to use it. Honestly the whole not for Profit thing comes to mind too for some reason. It's like they don't want fans or anyone to see behind the curtain. It's really time for the old guard to walk away and let the sports grow. This will never happen with these people steering the ship. Nascar is at a super low point and this is a great time to go after their spot, just like F1 did....

Sorry to bring this up, but Mike is failing to bring up the changes in NASCAR safety BEFORE Dale sr.’s death. I don’t want to call out specifics due to the emotional pain.

My guess is that John will not return as a driver but will run the team as long as he has a daughter racing, which won't be for more than two more seasons.

I think retirement is a decision between John and his immediate family. I think everyone else should mind their own business and keep their opinions and comments to themselves.

John needs to retire cause the next bad hit we could loose are 16 time championship maybe he will come out ok and try it once and say that's it am done he can always be taking care of his sponsorships and he won't loose nothing he gets his mind back and run the show and belive me they need soft walls they will work and they can make them bigger they might have to cut out a row or move them bleachers back look at nascar no deaths since earnhardt I would like to see that frame it hit at 302 mph and 1 side that frame was pushed in it look like a foot it knocked his brain around soft walls it takes so much of the impact of them cars and the wall that runs down the middel they could make them wider cause it will take the impacted away look at nascar they had a car hit a wall at 198 miles and he walked away

The man has nothing to prove, we don't need another Dale Earnhardt ending. He is the biggest legend of the sport, should run the teams and still be very involved but turn the driving chores to someone else.
