ABOUT JAY LENO'S GARAGE ON CNBC
Hosted by legendary comedian and “Tonight Show” host Jay Leno, the series explores our obsession with all things automotive. From classic cars to supercars and everything in-between, Jay is hitting the road to discover the most exciting, weird and wonderful vehicles ever made and meet the passionate people behind their wheels. Each one-hour themed episode features a mix of stunts, challenges, reviews, and celebrity interviews that showcases the colorful history of the automobile. Whether he’s exploring the story of an iconic brand, road-testing the newest super car, or investigating the latest automotive innovations, there is no wheel Jay won’t get behind to tell the story of our love affair with the car.
About Jay Leno: Acclaimed TV late night show host, admired stand-up comedian, best-selling children’s book author, much-in-demand corporate speaker, lovable TV and movie voice-over artist, pioneering car builder and mechanic, and philanthropist…it’s no wonder that Jay Leno is widely characterized as “the hardest working man in show business.”

I've been watching Jay for several years. And I swear he's got to be the most humble rich person I have seen. The fact that he's so in tune with vehicles, reminds me of my Father. Even though he wasn't wealthy, he had a great appreciation for well built cars. Jay is going to leave a legacy for future car enthusiasts to reflect on. I probably won't ever own the collection that he has acquired. But it is nice to watch him explain how these vehicles were instrumental in changing history.

Im an old guy now (61) and often I prefer re-watching some of the older movies like the train, movies had a different feel back then, no CG hardly any special effects compared to today and they just had a different feel if anyone knows what I mean. Todays movies have more eye candy but the core plot is often contrived and weak, the plot of the train grew from the WWII era when Hitlers henchmen were literally raping and pillaging europe stealing priceless works of art, gold from banks and so on.

I grew up in Cornwall; I was still in single digits in the 1960's. My dad had a local garage, services provided included fuel, repairs, taxi service, wedding and funeral vehicles. He had a couple of old Austin Hearses and a 1936 Rolls Royce, which he had found under a dustsheet on a local farm; a real barn find. Part of his job was that if a holiday maker died on holiday, he would repatriate the bodies to their home. I went with him on one such trip in the Rolls. Through all the winding and bendy lanes of Cornwall, we were being tailgated by some bloke in a mark one Ford Cortina who seemed to be in a bit of a hurry. He overtook us when we hit some dual carriageway, but you should have seen his face when we sailed past him at 100mph shortly afterwards. I spent hours playing in that Rolls as a kid; and appreciated the bodywork, leather and the wood even then. Great memories. (Rolls Royce's do not break down; they simply fail to proceed.)

Hey Jay, Always loved Rollers. One July Sunday morning 1978, me and the fam are comin' back from the market when the wife says "THERES A ROLLS ROYCE and they look like their in trouble". This was one of those oil trouble times and there were NO service stations open for miles. We went back and it turns out the the car had a flat tire. This car was one of those great old early thirties grand touring cars for the lords and ladies. The owner had a spare but no jack and being 1978 no cell service either. I told the guy I would be right back and bring a jack. Me and the boy ( 4 years old) came back, helped him with the tire change and then he told me and my son to get in and he took us for a ride and left his three passengers at the side of the road in the sweltering heat. How cool was that? We were gone for about ten minutes and then returned to retrieve the strandee's. Great adventure. regards, Giovanni

Funny Rolls Royce story. A friend of mine when I was very young had the Cat dealership on the Darling Downs of Queensland. When he was an apprentice Hastings Deering sent him out to a sheep station in Western Queensland. Guy picked him up at the air port in a Rolls, a really old rolls with a million miles on the clock. That was his farm ute. Had to shift some rabbit traps off the front seat and throw them into the back seat on which sat a sheep that had been half eaten by a Dingo. Turns out that the guy was the station owner. He bought the Rolls because it was the most reliable vehicle he could get and he was a days drive from the nearest mechanic. He could afford a Rolls because Australia as the saying goes was riding on the sheep's back. Wool was a pound a pound and Oz supplied the world with high quality fleece. Sheep farmers were the oil tycoons of the day.

It was and a very satisfying howl ensued. Grampa used to back it out the garage, until he hit the back wall, then roar off! Thanks for the video!!
