Weird how he felt 2000s was gonna be a really good decade and the year of this interview 9/11 happened then things changed. I can understand why he felt it was better than the 90s because of his drug abuse in the 90s and in the 2000s he was clean and back in RHCP.

I truly got the sense that he had a lot to live for again and was gracious that life had give him the opportunity. I still remember the suitcase of supplements that he carried with him while in Toronto. He was serious about his health and remaining healthy. The 2000's were, indeed, his finest decade of work thus far.... both with RHCP and (especially) solo.

@@Chris-uz7cl thanks. It seems like he went from one extreme to the other.

The 2000s were the last great decade in my opinion even with 9/11 and stuff people were more present and happier compared to the later decades. To be honest when the 2010s started everything went to shit in my opinion

He meant a good decade in terms of music. And in many ways he was right, at least the first half of 00s. He was also only completely clean and sober for one or two years. Since then he has dabbled in using hard drugs like heroin, cocaine, molly, etc.

@@smkxodnwbwkdns8369 Molly/LSD, def yes, but heroin??? You can't just dabble with it, especially when you have a history like John's.

amazing that he hasn t heard about at the drive in at this point, the defacto jam is not long after
@Chris-uz7cl4 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I was really surprised by that too, and the fact that him and the Peppers took The Mars Volta along with them on tour a couple years later during the BTW tour.

That’s crazy he wasn’t aware of at the drive in at the time! Who knew he’d be collaborating with Cedric and Omar in the near future

I believe that John opened for Defacto in 2002, which was the outfit that kinda sorta became The Mars Volta.. kzbin.info/www/bejne/pGLUZImZrb-Gepo

Nothing at all. Believe it or not, this was roughly 7 months before 9/11!
