"The basis of “Walls” was programmed in about 15 minutes the morning of Performance Five when we opened for Blonde Redhead in Pomona. I danced and did abstract vocal effects that night, but when we recorded it I wrote a proper vocal (literally written while the drum machine was going to tape). This song journeys from the past to the future and back." -John Frusciante

Blown away daily by Frusciante's passion and talent. This song is almost an homage to early 2000's Radiohead and i don't mean that negatively. Good man there, Frusciante

@andruktn SO TRUE! I hate when people worship his image or anyone else for that matter. John himself hates being put on a pedestal. We are all human, with the ability to tap into amazing imaginations and creativity that comes out in the form of beautiful sounds. Music is not created by people. Music all ready exists, we just are able to arrange the sounds together and form something beautiful.

Half of them were probably there expecting something RHCP-esque. I've got aduio of all the "Performance #" shows, and you often hear the crowd members complaining about the amazing music. Some people just don't want to understand.

Frusciante's almost got the Thom Yorke jig-between-vocals thing down. lol. Too bad he's declined to participate in the Hall of Fame induction ceremony with the Chili Peppers. He was such a vital part of their history, and arguably the biggest reason the band skyrocketed to the next level with BSSM.

@andruktn JF "just" playing his song IS brilliance. He is a public figure who creates so much energy when he plays, its inspirational almost religious, not in the traditional sense but you respect and ar enveloped by his movements, his attitude, the feelings he puts forth when playing his music. BRILLIANCE. T

haha dude the first thing i heard john doing outside of the chili peppers was like enter uh from smile from the streets you hold. holy shit.... but in saying that its some of my favourite stuff, and i think niandra lades and usually just a t-shirt is his best album along with the empyrean which would have to be a tie between the two (this also happens to be johns opinion, which i only just found out)

@icps86 any synth sustain knob would do, also modulation on dry and distortion to some point i guess. delay also, as well and pitch changers and tempo accelerators, high pass filters and cutoffs. but by the moves of his hand, it seems like he's using a sensitive pad to mix all these, which is pretty much more accesible and helpful.

by god he's a shaman performing musical voodoo! the same mystical principle applies from the time of the ancients: contacting god. which an artist like him is doing all the time, through whichever means you can give him. he stays in perfect contact with his right brain by turning everything into a vehicle of expression. beautiful example to the rest of us to modify the ins and outs of our bodies creatively. there can not be enough testament to this approach to life, its quintessential to us.
@crayyawn13 жыл бұрын
@Sypher474 yeah.. well i understand about being disappointed when the performance is much different than you thought it would be, but you gotta go with it. i went to a Yann Tiersen concert this year and was expecting to hear stuff from Amelie and that type of thing, but it was this spaced out post-rock thing sort of like Sigur Ros or something. anyway it was NOT what i expected totally the opposite and i was disappointed at first but it was also very cool and you gotta try and appreciate it

Hey everyone, I've moved house and I'm having trouble with my internet provider connecting me, so hopefully shouldn't be too much longer. I'm online at work at the moment. I might upload them here if things take too much longer at my place. Good to see lots of interest in the recordings :) Catch.

I've searched the internet about this video, and some people think John is using the Korg Kaoss Pad for those vocal effects (that loop/delay/pitch stuff) but than people say that box you see him using is too big to be a Kaoss Pad... Regardless of what he is using, can someone confirm for me that stuff like this is possible with the Kaoss Pad? I'm thinking of buying one!
@snejklol15 жыл бұрын
@panlancho both of them, but its mostly josh that you hear.
