I'm playing a wonderful 1990s Fender H.O.T. Practice amp (PR141) using a 1973 Gibson Les Paul Custom. This still extremely affordable combo is 1x10, 25W, fully solid state and just amazing! John Frusciante used this amp for some of the overdubs on the Blood Sugar Sex Magik ablum with Red Hot Chili Peppers.

Been watching your channel for a long time now and one thing that you have taught any new beginner or novice player is to ignore anyone who says 'those/that amp is crap'.! It's what you do with it and how you dial it in that matters.

Proof positive a good player can make anything sound good. I’m not that good, so I can’t get this out of the best amp, but Johan has magic hands.

I have to agree 💯 pick attack, attitude, intonation, Johan makes me want to obtain every piece of gear he touches, but I should probably just practice with a metronome lol

These were cool little amps, I remember them. They along with other "red knob" transistor amps like the Deluxe 85, the smaller R.A.D.and the M80 series all had a great sound but many didn't pass the test of time. Great demo and playing, thanks for sharing Johan and have a great weekend!

This was my first amp. It doesn't have gain and eq knobs. It had limited me for many years so I certainly have no love for it. I still have it, with a couple of broken jack inputs. I tried it as a cab with a smaller practice amp I have. Removed the spring tank, local audio technician made it into a separate reverb unit, that thing is broken by now as well.

I still have the Fender R.A.D. I got when I started playing. It’s built in distortion, on its own, never sounded great through its little 8” speaker, but it was decent if you managed to hook it up to something bigger. Pedals sound great through the clean modes, and an overdrive into the crunch mode is pretty nice. There are nicer SS amps out there, but this video goes to show that any amp is a useful tool for a talented player.

Is the carpeted version the same circuit?
@86Nazar
@86Nazar 4 ай бұрын
It is, just the covering is different. In fact, the R.A.D. amp is also the same circuit, but lacks reverb and has smaller speaker (8 inch instead of 10). There was also J.A.M. 1x12 combo, which also had identical circuit with both reverb and chorus.

It’s not the gear that makes you good. It’s the practice. Any master can make garbage gear sound good. A Marshall JMP isn’t going to make you play any better. But some gear may inspire you. Thanks for the videos
