Built with pride at Manitowoc Shipbuilding Co., Manitowoc,Wi. in 1951-52. My grandfather was a riveter there for 44 years, and drove a lot of rivets on the MUNSON. She was always his favorite, and would be proud to know she still sails today.

@@1Long2Short Thank you! He also drove rivets on all 28 submarines built in Manitowoc during WW2, and on many Lakers, tankers and carferries. After the MUNSON was the JOHN J. BOLAND, now the SAGINAW, and the DETROIT EDISON. He retired in 1959 just as the keel for the ADAM E. CORNELIUS was being laid. His services as a riveter were not needed, because she was welded together!

Thank you! I’m not Paul, but I still appreciate the comments. 🙂 I’m not sure when the salutes started, but before the days of radio communications the ships communicated with the bridge using both horns and lights. So we’re talking a really long time!

So happy for their safety escorts.. We just returned fr. Port of Bermuda an had police escorts in out of harbor. Same safety treatments in Nassau....in an out of harbors. Thank you a milliontimes for everyone

With the recent tuning done on her EP-90's she sounded like a loud synthesizer with that F-major note! Probably one of the loudest boats in the fleet.

@bluerazor7049- You’re right, it was an F below middle C, but it was a monotonal F, I played several variations of F chords against it and they all fit. The answering horn sounded like an A flat dominant 7 with added 9 + 10; a dissonant but full and funky chord! Those cats probably didn’t even know they were having a jam session!😋😊🎼🎶

@@bluerazor7049- Did that A flat assessment sound accurate to you? It might have been me, but I could hear all those tones. My axe is guitar. I prefer the arch top hollow body; not especially easy to play but the full mellow tones more than compensate for any difficulty in playing. And to me there is Nothing like an organ, guitar and drums trio!
