Great Show as usual, I have been on and off line over the last year for the most part and it is really nice to be back. I would like to say thank you both once again for the phone calls when I was going through the pancreatic cancer scare and when I decided to go into treatment for alcohol. I am finally back to work as a surgical TECH at a hospital here in Grand Rapids, and look forward to being back on Pateron once I get a few checks in the bank. Keep up the great work guys.

I read the Gotti Tapes book many times. Not sure why but i did. I never once thought John was ever going to move against Sam. It always seemed like kvetching to Frankie Loc. Making him agree with him even. He’d have a scotch or two and it would be like a therapy session. He had to get it out. All of it. He was the fucking boss and it wore on him. Basically a simple guy from Queens that made stupid gambling bets, loved his own family and La cosa nostra. My opinion Sam ratted to save his skin. He wasn’t offended by John’s “traitorous” comments.

I think both are true. I have no doubt in my mind that Sammy was hurt deeply by what John was saying or at the very least Angry and embarrassed that John was talking about him in this kind of way. I also don't think this is how Sammy thought John viewed him . I think ultimately however the decision was made to flip, not per-say to save his own skin from incarceration, I don't think incarceration in and of itself really bothers Sammy very much. I think what it is was was knowing the life like he did, I think Sam figured John would turn other family members against him and kill him, like they did Paul Castellano. It's why he calls himself a master double crosser in the Diane Interview. That him and John played chess and John lost. I think what he meant by that was, He felt he knew what John was up too and got to him before John could get to him. In a you're not about to Paul Castellano me mother fucker, kind of way.

It always makes me laugh to myself when everybody believes John was manipulated by Sammy into killing people for Sammy benefit. John wasn’t stupid. He was a boss and highly intelligent. I think John used the venting to test whoever he was venting to. To test their loyalty, to see if they would talk bad about Sammy or him. John could have put anybody in position to take over any business that Sammy took over. John was a slick guy and he too had his Machiavellian ways.

Hello Michael, great content as usual 👌🏻Love the insights into the various scenarios here you mentioned. On a personal note your very intelligent and articulate, could have easily been a high powered lawyer, diplomat corporate high flyer and the list can go on. I’m msg for the first time on your channel and wanted to say when you referred too that “there was one poignant reason John didn’t kill Sammy” and wasn’t money or law enforcement etc and I think I might no why. I live in Australia and my heritage is half Albanian from Montenegro and half Italian (Sicilian) from palazzo Adriano, next door too bisaquino. Now one thing I know from my late fathers first cousin in New York that died in 2002 aged 72 is that Sammy is an Sicilian with Albanian blood too, same as my grandfather was from Palazzo which his daughter is my mother. My fathers first cousin actually knew Sammy and meet some other mafiosos. I know the whole history of how the Mafia started in Sicily, from my uncles from my mothers Side and my father knew too and it started in Sicily and also Calabria and how it then became known as the Italian mafia when they emigrated to various countries. So knowing what I know of Sammy and many Mafiosos and I’m also assuming could be same of you, not sure, but hailing from bisaquino that you could be a Arberese as we refer to ourselves, is it far fetched to state that John didn’t wanna kill Sammy cause of his heritage and him knowing Sammy is close with the Albanians in New York that are originally from Balkans but are close to Sammy cause of this love of being like cousins and same heritage and not withstanding that some worked for Sammy too, that, that’s why John wouldn’t ? Knowing they could retaliate for Sammy as these guys were just thugs. Also those same guys Also could have been close to John too and that he liked them too as who they were as thugs lets just say. That’s my answer to what I think and also a Q to throw out there. Cause I’m surprised by now Sammy hasn’t brought to his audience his family lineage and also the history of how the Mafia really started in Sicily unless he doesn’t fully know how it did but I think he does, I believe you certainly do. I am sure you knowing more then him from my view that you do and maybe can’t or won’t say for now but I certainly know it myself. I’ve seen Sammy and even you Michael say KUMBARA or KUMBARI which in the Albanian language means either Godfather or for a best man, whereas ppl think Sammy or whoever for that matter say Goombata lol Regardless thanks for all the content you and RJ and your team put out. Its by far the best one out there in my opinion from all the ex mobsters or mob genre in general. Grazie Mille 🙏🙏🙏

I won’t annoy you lol but had to state again it’s actually true in my eyes your in another league to the rest of the mob guys lol who are like thugs how they speak and conduct themselves and I think in their heads still think there mafiosos or gangsters, just be humble and yourself when that life is over and done with. Your humble and respectful and one other thing I love too, your a great listener 👏🏻, Never once have I seen you cut RJ or anyone else for that matter when their speaking, your all class and intellectually all there upstairs lol. All in all you were cut out for that life but when it was the old Carlo Gambino and alike types, the quite achievers, you would have lasted decades around that Era but the later era With thugs and disloyal guys involved then I’m happy you made your decision to walk away. They ratted you with how they were disloyal and rapacious towards what was your end so if some are ratting or stealing while in the streets while your inside waiting for arguments sake to beat a trial how can they say that person is no good eventually when there not holding up their own end towards that so called brother in that life. So in my opinion Best decision you made Michael and keep being positive and classy it shines a lot from you and your a man’s man in my eyes that won’t change and in final your son is a wonderful man and respectful one too and wish him well in life. All the best for now Amico 🙏

Wow, just within the first two minutes of this great video I was thinking the same thing you were thinking Michael John Gotti never killed anyone in his crew, and he was very loyal to his people, so that’s why I think he was wrestling with it
@865style
@865style 10 ай бұрын
I think the only reason scammy didn't make a move on Gotti was because why put that target on his back by being boss? Sammy was able to do everything he wanted while just being a underboss/ consigliere. The fbi wasn't going after underbosses like they were the bosses. So for sammy let Gotti be the boss while he could be underboss and reap all the benefits. Then as much as the commission hated Gotti they would of definitely killed sammy because he was in on it to and that was obvious. So it would of then came off to chin and others that scammy used John to kill castellano then he killed Gotti to be the boss.

Just looking at everything objectively it seems John would have loved to kill Sammy but there wasn’t a way to do it without bad consequences. Law enforcement had tapes from the West side and the Lucchese’s about their plots to kill John and this would have been the perfect excuse whether they liked Sammy or not. They could have said “He killed Paul, Tommy, possible Frankie and now Sammy” and it would have been very believable. Philly, the Genovese, the Lucchese and even smaller families like Boston and Rochester would have approved because of their hate for John. Sammy and John were stuck in a double bind and it would have only ended in someone flipping or killing the other.

Gambino family was always divided imo. You had the Carlo Gambino side and the Neil Dellacroce side. Looking back at the Castellano event, Gotti and Ruggiero needed to have Sammy and DeCicco in order to succeed. Sammy and DeCicco were protégés under Castellano. I thought Milito had to go because he had close ties to Castellano and anybody who might want revenge.

Did those guys have money to go to soldiers or hit men as far as a war against the Castellano faction was concerned? Also how would a war between the two factions have went down and who would have financed those crews if and when it went down like that?

I could be wrong, but, if what Sammy says about Scarfo calling him to a meeting regarding John giving him issues is true, I’d think Sammy could have whacked John out via Scarfo’s connections to Bobby Manna and Chin. Manna and Chin clearly wanted to whack him anyway, and Sammy was definitely close with Scarfo and Leonetti. Scarfo was super close Manna, who got pinched for plotting John’s going away party. I agree with the theory the only reason Sammy didn’t take John out is that he assumed John is going away soon anyway, let him take the heat.

Hey Michael, I am curious, regardless of civil strife within the Family or fending off the Chin and the Lucchese's, would John have been able to call upon the Westies as some more man power or were they too reckless? I know they helped with the issue at Bankers and Brokers and were known to be extremely violent, or would they have been no match for say a crew sent from the West side? Great show as always!

Rj good point. Gotti may have realized he wasnt accepted by the other bosses, and they had Sammys respect, not so much gottis. In fact, most the other bosses wanted to kill him for breaking a major rule (killing a boss) . Thats the rule that protects bosses. Gotti knew Sammy could sit down with bosses like he couldnt. Gotti definately was insecure about Sammy, his ego didnt like Sammy being powerful and respected. John didnt want to be outshined and he thought Sammy was starting to.

Important point, in sammys first interview on ABC sammy tells the story of him thinking about killing John, and he made a list of all the guys he would have to kill if he killed John and he realized the list was just way too long. Well... all these years later I have to revisit somethings about myself as a low ranking NCO (in civilian world: lowest level management position) in the Marine Corps. Decades later I still learn and I discover I may have been wrong in some ways. If by the alpha Marine in video below, his point of EMPATHY and SYMPATHY are needed to be a great leader, then I might, we all might, deduce John Gotti was a great leader. That is to say I am recalling Mr. Michael Scars past comments--that left an impact on him--that even as boss of a powerful mafia family, John Gotti if he knew one of his good men were truly sick in health, he showed both empathy and sympathy and wished he could carry that cross instead of his loyal troop. I'll admit... empathy and sympathy were not high priorities taught to me in the Corps as a low ranked NCO about quality leadership traits. That said... "never ask your men to do something you would never do," was emphasized to me by my superior NCOs. But also--and this really drives me crazy with American politicians or "cool a$$" Black-American Democratic voters--dressing nice, having the nice car, all the high status, luxury, high rank in life matters EVEN when your people under YOUR charge are dying a trillion deaths so-to-speak. I know many civilians THINK that is how Marine Corps CULTURE views good and "strong" leadership too. They think all it is barking all the time and constantly ridiculing your men like Wes Watson below. Civilians couldn't be more wrong 🙄 (1) MARINE RAIDER EXPLAINS WHY MILITARY LEADERSHIP SUCKS | Nick Koumalatsos (2) Wes Watson berates you for 2 minutes straight
