I'm just going to say this which is a two-part statement 1. Mainstream comedians that have a certain level of presence I feel some of them kind of give up and just softball a special. Both Anthony jeselnik and Dimitri Martin, although it's more in the case in the latter. Also people like Ali Wong and Amy Schumer. 2. I wouldn't say he's better than 75% of comedians because a few years ago when I first started listening to stand up seriously I went through all the mainstream comics. Most of them are pretty good and you probably haven't listened to most of the sets of them anyways. There is honestly a plethora of talent though when it comes to underground comics and I love watching their sets. Only because now that we're entering a new generation there's skits on things that haven't been done before or things that people can only talk about now that we're in this time.

I’ve been watching John’s work for years. I had no idea this happened. In the first couple minutes I was like holy shit I feel so bad; but true to self, he did what he does and it “melted away” like nothing ever happened. Then I immediately heard his cadence and it was like hearing “we gotta go girl” for the first time again. Love the episodes of life concept. Im older and can totally relate. Especially about the kids in the cars. Its a wonder that God allows us to be parents at all, but proves we can come out pretty normal all things considered. We are stronger than we give ourselves credit for. John Heffron made me laugh out loud SO many times!!!! I teach at a college and have to explain that all I have is a landline. I then have to explain what a land line is. Yes, I do still have an answering machine. I even have a rotary phone, attached to a wall. A couple of kids have tried to push the #s, instead of twisting the dial.

How refreshing to see a special shot in ...get yhis..a comedy club!! No stadium, no arena, no off Broadway theatre, just a comedy club! I usually like to think I have a few comics the mainstream public hasn't discovered yet in my hip pocket that I can tell friends about, but how the heck has this guy eluded my radar. That was one of the funniest, well written specials I've seen in years. His style and types of subjects he uses for his material is 2nd to none.

Came down with Bell's palsy about 20 years ago when I was 37, fortunately there was a specialist that came to our little hospital in Harlan, IA from Omaha, NE told me to take these meds and do facial exercises and will have a 50% chance of beating this, couldn't whistle, had to hold up the right side of my mouth otherwise anything that I ate or drank would fall out on to me or the floor and had to sleep with an eyepatch on otherwise my eye would dry out (couldn't blink)

Yes, my dad had it one time too. Just like John, he was told it was probably from stress. It looked SO weird though! And we were all super worried and thought that maybe he had a tumor or something even more serious. It was scary at first, and we were happy that Bell’s Palsey was all it was, and it went away in time.
