On a cold Thursday night two days after New Years 1985, I ventured to the Village Vanguard because I saw that Branford was in town and I wanted to see him up close. I had heard a little by Freeman and Drummond but was unfamiliar with the leader John Hicks. I ended up staying for two sets and heard some very fine playing by everyone. If anyone out there can help, I'd love to know the name of the fourth tune.
John Hicks - piano
Branford Marsalis - tenor and soprano saxophones
Chico Freeman - tenor saxophone
Ray Drummond - bass
Idris Muhammed - drums
