Anna Prince from Anna Prince Publishing Company, BMI Nashville...Anna Prince "Thanks to each of you who like my song I wrote, called ANNA! I wrote Anna for my Mom and Dad! Thanks to John Hogan who called me by phone several times to discuss having me sing harmony to my Anna song. I have since recorded iANNA singing it with my husband Eddie McCurry! He and I live on a mountain top in North Carolina, USA. John Hogan has called me several times from Ireland, when he learned that I wrote the song called ANNA! Thanks to John who recorded my Anna song! Here's the true story of how I wrote the song called ANNA! ...Yes, I, 'ANNA PRINCE', wrote the song called 'ANNA'! Not after myself but after my mother...for my Mom and Dad. Hank Locklin, Grand Ole Opry Legend, recorded three songs I wrote! All three three (3) number one songs that Hank Locklin, from the Grand Ole' Opry, recorded! He met me at a radio station where I once worked. Hank liked my songs and began recording three (3) of my songs.. on RCA in Nashville! My songs are titled: " I FEEL A CRY COMING ON"... 'THE BEST PART OF LOVING YOU" and ANNA!... All three of my songs are here on KZbin! .:-} you can hear all three! Here's the story of how I wrote the song called ANNA... ' One day I was looking out my mountain cabin window... as my Dad's old cornstalks were blowing in the wind! I remembered my parents raising seven children, including me! Suddenly, I picked up my notebook and pen as the words and verses flowed. I ran to Mom, asking to name the song after her name called...Delly. Mom refused... so I cried a bit...and used my own name, Anna! Soon my Anna song was born! Mom kept my three little girls so I could I drive 250 miles from my North Carolina mountain home...to Nashville, Tennessee. There, I sang the ANNA song to two important people...Grand Ole Opry singer Hank Locklin and song publisher Shelby Singleton ( Harper Valley PTA) . Both men wanted the song! Mr. Locklin told me to hand my songs to him because he had already recorded two (2) of my songs that ranked #1 in England, Top ten in Ireland and Germany. I handed Hank the Anna song and returned 200 miles to my home to raise my three little girls! I could have used some money. I was a young mother, alone, raising three little girls! We were so poor, half-hungry and alone. . . living on $68.00 a month for a family of four! Yes, we were poor! The snow flakes blows through the cracks in our cabin when it snows! When I got enough gas money, got a copy of my song called ANNA! MY NAME WAS NOT LISTED ON IT AS THE WRITER! I drove to Nashville, went into RCA, asking why my song had Mr Locklin's name on it?...The RCA official, who wrote down the record label recording information at RCA told me this... 'Mr. Locklin wrote his name down, that he wrote the song called ANNA!" I asked, "Was it an accident?" RCA said, "No, it was no accident! I asked him and he confirmed he wrote the song ANNA.!" I did not know that recordings can pay the writer $30,000.00 - to $300,000.00 or more.. I was paid only about $600. or less each. in small increments, for my 3 number one hit songs... which, honestly, I was glad to get. The children needed shoes and school clothes! Years passed and I had no way to right this wrong. The ANNA song became popular world wide...as several singers around the world, recorded and re-recorded my song called...Anna. Other singers who recorded the Anna song were innocent! They only saw the recording said Hank Locklin was the writer! They are innocent, I feel.. John Hogan and several other singers thought Locklin wrote the song, I suppose. But as God is my witness..I, Anna Prince. wrote the song called ANNA... to honor the life of my old, preacher father, Reverend Ulysses G. Prince and my mother, Della Hawkins Prince! (Read our story in my latest book called love Doctor Of Nashville! by Anna Prince where all good books are sold. Now sadly, Mr. Locklin passed away about 2009-10. PS: I raised my three children alone with little money. I remember being down to no money twice, spending our last dime.... literally not even a penny.
