The name Blunderbuss just sound clunky and unreliable. I am sure he had heard of it given his reaction but I don’t think he’d heard stories of unreliability or seen anything bad happen. I think he simply thought it was hella outdated since he said “What is it, 1850?” This can be perceived as “This may have been top notch a half-century ago but the musket age is long gone.” Both quotes are based on someone basing their ideas on outdated practices and shit.
