As always, great job in breaking down the serve mechanics of John. Although a long way to go for me personally in terms of consistency, I am glad that this technique works perfectly for me at times and gives so much confidence in my serve especially in tough situations like second serve or break points. Just got to keep practicing to make it stick consistently. Toss consistently is key to hitting the mark.

Wow - I think I'm going to have to see my physio after watching this! To be 8 feet tall and so athletically flexible! Great analysis (would have loved to see the serve at full speed...). Thanks and cheers from Sydney - Dave

Excellent. As i grow older , I realise my overall body energy has dropped which has slowed down my movement. I Need a higher toss now to give my body the time to accomodate all these steps before contact👍

Completely understandable. Keep working on it and you’ll keep improving. You got this!

My experience with the serve is that you do not need to do any exercises to work on leading w/ the edge of the racket, strings backwards, pronating etc.. When the weight is driven into the shot coupled by driving the elbow straight up and snapping the forearm into the ball all of that happens naturally and effortlessly. Having said that, this analysis, and Isner's serve, shows you everything you need to know to develop a very effective serve. Nice work.

Simple but not easy. 😄. Great dissection of his serve.

“Hellloooooooooooo…just grow a foot to a foot and a half in height” 😜 jk Great content as always. My serve has actually improved significantly from your tips. Thank you so much!!

You should break down his serve from the right side so we can see it without the "Slice"

NO DO NOT COPY THIS SERVE FROM A GUY WHO IS 6'10 INCHES TALL. Copying the serve of a near giant does little to help out the average size person!

Huh? You must not have watched the video. Nothing I mentioned has anything to do with his height.

Show us Pete Sampras’ serve! Greatest serve of all time. John Isner is a scrub. Actually it would be better if you showed us GOATdals serve because most of us will never be able to hit a serve like Pete or Roger or John… but Rafas serve is sissy yet super effective. We can hit like him.

But you will be able to hit a serve like Nadal? That is unlikely too.
@sanjaygandhi79622 жыл бұрын
@@nicholasnemeroff9588 This is true. Most people won't be able to emulate Sampras' serve because they don't have the flexibility or shoulder strength. Sampras can touch his elbows behind his back. Patrick McEnroe said that a doctor that once worked with many baseball pitchers said that he had never seen a shoulder as developed as Sampras' shoulder. A coach needs to see what a person is capable of doing and showing some technique that is reasonable for them.

@@sanjaygandhi7962 on the other hand, you are not playing against top 50 players on earth either. You don’t need to have Isner or Sampras flexibility to do pronation or knock off the birthday hat 👒
