Inspired by the near total absence of Latinos in his son’s American history class, John Leguizamo embarks on a frenzied search to find a Latin hero for his son’s school project. From a mad recap of the Aztec empire to stories of unknown Latin patriots of the Revolutionary War and beyond, Leguizamo breaks down the 3,000 years between the Mayans and Ricky Ricardo into 90 irreverent and uncensored minutes in his Broadway show, "Latin History for Morons." Viewers can also catch Leguizamo in Paramount Network's "Waco." In the limited series based on the 1993 Waco, Texas siege, he plays TF agent Jacob Vasquez. Tune in as Leguizamo discusses both projects.
BUILD is a live interview series like no other-a chance for fans to sit inches away from some of today’s biggest names in entertainment, tech, fashion and business as they share the stories behind their projects and passions. Every conversation yields insights, inspiration and plenty of surprises as moderators and audience members ask questions. It all happens several times a day live and live-streamed on BUILDseries.com.

Tony Rivers-unfortunately I live in the middle of a Latino culture where it is poverty stricken and ghetto. Yes, native Americans are revered by most of us here, but your Latino cultural has a BLM attitude.( Brown lives matter, homie!). Homie, what a word. Homie, by chicas everywhere. Hey esay... guttoral. Sad, John spoke much truth about his culture and you can find it here on the streets of Burque. Sad term used by them also. Carry on...MW is a stage name...lol

John you DEFINITELY need to make a documentary. Everybody needs to know the truth. My dad is mexican came here as a child with my grandparents they were migrant workers, working the fields. My granfather joined the Army then became a police officer. But my dad was made to feel ashamed to be latino at school. So he never taught us how to speak our language. We also lost a lot of our traditions. I'm grateful for the information you have given me. Please consider a documentary so that you can reach others with this wealth of information so they to can feel proud. Thank you

And Spanish Explorers who destroyed the Aztec Empire and stole Mexico from the indigenous cultures there, or have you never heard of Hernán Cortés, or perhaps never heard of Francisco Pizarro who conquered the Inca Empire and much of South America? I mean both are wrong but regardless of that it has been happening for the entire existence of humanity. Yeah I guess that would be considered Illegal to. You gotta take the good with the bad, and none, absolutely NONE of our ancestors are completely innocent.

@@spanishinquisition5508 I see so because both had family who were of Inca or Aztec blood that excuses the fact they were responsible for conquering and subjugating and destroying both civilizations? I do not give a flying FUCK if they were American born, European born, or whatever they were backed by Spain which so many Mexican Americans claim to have blood from. Then hypocrites like yourself start calling white people conquerors yet your own heritage did the goddamn same? Are you fucking kidding me???? I have nothing against Latinos knowing their history in the development of the United States and its creation at all. What I do find offensive is people like you who are obviously racist and pretend to be historical experts and run down this or that ethnicity at will then ignorant people listen to the evil you spread and believe it. I agree with many of the points made, but need to comment. We all support the teaching of our Hispanic history to the population of the USA, not America, America is a continent consisting of many countries. Just like Europe ! If we are of Spanish descent we are then Hispanic, not Latin, the Latins are from Lazio and Lazio is in Italy according to my geography book. We should not follow the wrong terminology applied to us, we should teach them the correct word. Using Latin is perpetuating the very same concept that you are purportedly instructing other groups to correct. We should fight with the pen to avoid being erased from history, but we should tell the whole history, and history is not funny or a joke or to generate laughter. The Black Legend has been successful in creating myths that have made the stereotypes that we see nowadays. Worst yet is than not only the Anglo population believes them but our own peoples believe it. In the US people love stereotypes and put people in neat boxes classifying us all. But we know it is wrong because Hispanic peoples come in all colors and flavours. The situation Hispanics living in the US experience is unique to that country and caused by the ignorance of the Anglo population. To teach our history is a task that should be addressed to all. To the Anglo population to teach them of our accomplishments since before their Anglo ancestors arrived to this territory; and to the Hispanic population because they need to know who their ancestors were and what they accomplished. Personally, I dislike vulgarity, even if it generates laughs. If you are serious about your quest do it seriously and without profit. Good luck / Buena suerte. Nota* El apellido Leguízamo viene del vasco Leguizamon, es muy antiguo y extremadamente raro. Significa lugar de helechos.

Actually HE makes one erroneous statement: ifweare really gonnadelve into " latin/hispanic" history, saying "Latinos" are the 2nd oldest ethnic group after "native americans" is fundamentally wrong. People from mexico to Chile did not just spring out of holes in the ground or emigrate to the western hemisphere in boats. The genetics shared between " hispanics" and" indigenous americans" aka native americans, is about the same. More than 20 thousand years ago people came from asia, over the now lost land bridge, through alaska, leaving some behind to become the "eskimo/inuit" and yet people kept spreading and following the coastline, and game. Further south we had people again following the coastline, finding warmer climates with more abundant gameand food to forage and gather, and eventually people kept moving into what is now know as "Latin America". And considering that most native americans are not pure blooded from alaska to any of the other states of the US of A, they therefore hold aboutthe same genetic heritage as hispanic people. And Those of pure native blood in mexicoand other parts that are closer to true native americans of the western hemisphere, you know what they are called? Indios; spanish for indian/ native american. BOOOOOOm Still think what Leguizamo is doing is fantastic. History is very important and that soo many are already ignorant of sheer modern facts, let alone pretty obvious older truths, has lead the world to much woe throughout history. SHED THAT LIGHT LEGUIZAMO! ^~^ PE@CE! I cant wait to see your show!

It was very funny but filled with inaccurate facts and missing important details for example Two-hundred and forty thousand Aztecs are estimated to have died during the siege, which lasted 80 days. The remaining Spanish forces consisted of 900 Spaniards, 80 horses, 16 pieces of artillery, and Cortes's 13 brigantines. Totally true that smallpox played a important roll. But fact of the matter is that anytime a civilisation that have metal, iron or steel meets a culture that doesn't have it, you know what happens and this is systematic. They might win one or two battles because of geography or numbers but eventually they lose the war. The other inaccuracy is about brazil that is actually half of South America in territory and and population the population has very little indian DNA Read - blogs.discovermagazine.com/gnxp/2011/02/brazilians-more-european-than-not/#.XA6uEhNKhTY is a log text but clarifying Also about the Aztecs I understand that you want to feel proud but in my opinion although they were an empire so was the Portuguese and the Spanish and there is nothing to be proud of genoside, I quote "Scope of Human Sacrifice In Aztec Culture - Some post-conquest sources report that at the re-consecration of Great Pyramid of Tenochtitlan in 1487, the Aztecs sacrificed about 80,400 prisoners over the course of four days." Some post-conquest sources report that at the re-consecration of Great Pyramid of Tenochtitlan in 1487, the Aztecs sacrificed about 80,400 prisoners over the course of four days. This number is considered by Ross Hassig, author of Aztec Warfare, to be an exaggeration. Hassig states "between 10,000 and 80,400 persons" were sacrificed in the ceremony.[11] The higher estimate would average 14 sacrifices per minute during the four-day consecration. Four tables were arranged at the top so that the victims could be jettisoned down the sides of the temple.[18] Nonetheless, according to Codex Telleriano-Remensis, old Aztecs who talked with the missionaries told about a much lower figure for the reconsecration of the temple, approximately 4,000 victims in total. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Human_sacrifice_in_Aztec_culture They were not nice people there is also a very big difference between Spanish colonialism and Portuguese colonialism, Spanish had the numbers to go and do their genocides, Portuguese were costal empires with a big navy dedicated to trade (Slaves including) :-) But only in the 18th century there was a gold rush and in 1822 brazil got independency. The reason of little Indian blood is due to Genocide and I quote " The process that has been described as the genocide of indigenous peoples in Brazil began with the Portuguese colonization of the Americas, when Pedro Álvares Cabral made landfall in what is now the country of Brazil in 1500. This started the process that led to the depopulation of the indigenous peoples in Brazil, because of disease and violent treatment by European settlers, and their gradual replacement with colonists from Europe and Africa. This process has been described as a genocide, and continues into the modern era with the ongoing destruction of indigenous peoples of the Amazonian region.[1][2]" Horrifying - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Genocide_of_indigenous_peoples_in_Brazil All to say that Brazil is a different case all together is also the most racist country that I visited They keep growing and are a power house buying all the big companies in Latin America By the way they also don't like to be referenced by Latinos and like to keep a good distance from Spanish It's all very sad check it out
