He was one of a kind when it came to expressing human sentiments in songwriting.

John wrote some great songs. He had a knack for catchy hook phrases like All You Need is Love, Give Peace a Chance, Imagine, Help, etc. Complicated his life at times but he's in the history books for a reason.

I always giggle at the very end when John breaks into his own attempt at impersonating what I believe is Ed Sullivan at Phil Spector who was producing at the time. "Really great working with you Phil..."

Lennon wrote this song in 1968 during the Beatles retreat in Rishikesh , India . Named it child of nature but never used it until they broke up .

There are demos of it in its original form, but IMO this is a far better song.

Oh, a John Lennon early 1971 solo Tune, as the Beatless broke up in June of 1970. Great song, this is the first I've heard this song. I'm shocked it slipped by me! Good work researching this!

Interesting. I was just listening to John Lennon not one hour before your video reaction showed up on my feed. of course John is 50% of the greatest songwriting team of the 20th century and this song is so personally his And his stormy relationship with Yoko. Your reaction is spot on Dani and always enjoyable!

Hi and thanks for such a heartfelt reaction of one of John Lennon's great solo songs. During his solo career he gave some genuinely great songs and few that as well as being great actually "matter" in terms of the things that they actually say. for me personally he gave us two songs that are not only great but genuinely important in what they say: "Working Class Hero" and if you can bring yourself to listen to it and if you can get it past the filters: "Woman is the Ni***r of the world" John Lennon's greatest solo work also just has to include: "Cold Turkey" "Mother" "God" "Love" "Crippled Inside" "Give Peace a Chance" "Oh My Love" "#9 Dream" "Instant Karma" "Power to the People" "Whatever Gets You Through the Night" "John Sinclair" "Woman"

During this time he was stripping himself bare psychologically - his songs of the early 70s were incredibly emotional. Bryan Ferry did a good cover of this, but the original is the best. Such a strong and beautiful song. Still miss JL.

He was going thru PrimalScreamTherapy at the time, and I guess that form of psychotherapy was really healing for him... However, he was still using heroin, so who knows?

Much of his solo work is a measure of his life experiences. The early 70s stuff tends to be of the perspective of a man wrong by those around him while after his 5 year hiatus he wrote about family and a more optimistic future.

out of curiosity, I'm the same age as this song by John Lennon, as this was the last song he produced in his life, as later one afternoon when he was returning to his hotel a fan came after him and shot him with a revolver and unfortunately John ended up dying, this song actually besides expressing feelings we can also say that it was a sentimental testament, it may not seem like it but when my fiancée died 3 years and 7 months ago, the first song of more than 20 This was what listening more than 20 times, John Lennon always conveyed messages in his songs and to this day he always makes us have a rollercoaster of feelings

Three hit singles came from the 1980 Starting Over album - Starting Over. Woman, and Watching the Wheels. Any of them would be worth a listen. But if you want to get John's sense of humor and sarcasm, you should hear The Ballad of John and Yoko from 1969 while the Beatles were coming to an end.
