@@mnomadvfxWhat the hell is your problem? John Lennon did not deserve to be assassinated. He was a man who only wanted peace I the world. Don't forget he was after all just a man. He fell out of love with his first wife, big deal love comes and goes until you find the one you were meant to be with for life. John was with Yoko until the end of his life and would still be with her had he lived. If you don't like John Lennon why did you bother to even watch this reaction? Just Trolling I suppose.

The music for this song was originally written as the song "Child of Nature" but John wrote new lyrics to create "Jealous Guy". The Roxy Music version of this song (recorded as a tribute to Lennon after his murder) is actually considered by many people to be the definitive version.

@@markallen2984 it’s ok the say Roxy Music did a great (even fantastic) version, but to say it is definitive over Lennon is a strange thing to say (whoever said it first). All Along the WatchTower is considered by critics, fans, and Dylan himself to be the definitive version of that song. But that’s the only time I’ve heard a cover to be considered definitive (especially in regards to such a beautiful and deeply personal song written by a genius who was murdered tragically)

I shed a tear when I heard John's voice. It reminded me that no matter how talented one is, ultimately, we are human beings that are subject to our baser instincts and prone to making terrible mistakes. John's vulnerability to these behaviors touches all of us who work to be better souls. Thank you for the reaction.

John Lennon's songs are seemingly so simple, and yet they are so deep and hit so hard. Not a note out of place. I think this song was written when he and Yoko were still in England, hence the big country estate and the Rolls Royce in the video. Then they moved to New York. He and Yoko separated for a while, she stayed in New York and he moved to Los Angeles for a drug and booze-filled year or so when he really went off the rails and had an affair. He got clean, they reconciled, she had their son Sean and he became a very happy house husband for a number of years, then he went back to recording and had just finished his beautiful album Double Fantasy when he was killed. I walked by their apartment building The Dakota about a half hour before he was shot. I wonder if John Hinkley was already there hiding in the shadows. It gives me shivers to think about it. What a waste of a beautiful soul. RIP.

In fact I was taught by some of the same teachers at Quarry Bank, our senior school (or High School as I believe it is called in the US) - his first group was called The Quarrymen. Jealous and Woman needs to be listened to as odes from Man to Woman, not just a personal lament to Yoko. I was asked by a Texan elderly lady who I bumped into when she was visiting Liverpool which Beatle is Liverpudlians favourite? I said that the only way I could explain it was 'we love Paul, George and Ringo.... but we are IN LOVE with John.'

A beautiful song. My favorite moments are in those seconds before it goes into the third and fourth choruses, with the high piano keys played and the orchestra swelling, the drums punctuating the moments as he starts singing "I didnt mean to hurt you". Makes me think of him standing in the pouring rain outside his woman's home, hoping against hope she forgives him. Very moving.

This is one of my absolute favorites of John’s solo songs. It’s so raw and honest. You guys need to check out “Watching the Wheels” which is also incredible! Two more Lennon adjacent recommendations: His son, Julian Lennon is also a musician! His song “Too Late For Goodbyes” is amazing and my goodness is he a chip off the old block! He sounds so much like his dad. John’s wife Yoko is also a musician (although for many her music is an acquired taste Lol) and her song “Nobody Sees Me Like You Do” has really beautiful lyrics about her and John’s relationship. It was on her first solo album after John was murdered. Definitely worth a listen! ❤❤❤

Don't forget that John's youngest son Sean Lennon is *also* a singer, songwriter and musician. He is the lead singer and guitarist of his own band called "Ghost Of A Saber Tooth Tiger" (GOASTT). I'm surprised you forgot all about his youngest child who is an incredible musician.

As someone else has mentioned, this was originally called “Child of Nature,” written for the Beatles’ white album. Paul’s song along the same lines, “Mother Nature’s Son,” made the album, but “Child of Nature” did not. John then wrote new words, and supposedly wrote it this way for Paul. You should check out “Mother Nature’s Son” …a very pretty song, typically melodic for Paul.

John originally wrote this song while The Beatles were in India, and it was considered for the White Album. The lyrics were originally in the same vein as Paul’s Mother Nature’s Son, in fact it had a similar title, (which might explain why it was abandoned at the time). He then rewrote the lyrics completely and put it on his solo album ”Imagine” (1971), so that we thankfully got to finally hear this beautiful song.

Jealous Guy is from the Imagine album & the whole album is great & is probably my favorite John Lennon solo album. But if you really want to hear some raw emotion from John . You should start checking out some of the songs from the Plastic Ono Band album. This is also a great album. Maybe you can check out these songs. Mother Working Class Hero God Love Again the whole album is great. Hopefully you'll check some of these out.
