John talks about, peace, peaceful revolution, the black panthers and the Native American situation. This video is partially a response to those few sick, ignorant individuals who say John Lennon was a racist because of the song, "Woman is the Nigger of the World" See my video response below if intersted.
Our society is run by insane people for insane objectives. I think we're being run by maniacs for maniacal ends and I think I'm liable to be put away as insane for expressing that. That's what's insane about it. -John Lennon
"Laurel and Hardy, that's John and Yoko. And we stand a better chance under that guise because all the serious people like Martin Luther King and Kennedy and Gandhi got shot." -- John Lennon
"I am a firm believer in the people. If given the truth, they can be depended upon to meet any national crisis. The great point is to bring them to the real facts."
- Abraham Lincoln

John's vision was so simple - a world without war, hate, conflict. It was too simple to explain to people who were conditioned to hate and to believe in the INSANE concept of a righteous war.

He sure spoke the truth; no exaggerating or minimizing, no candy coating, no white washing, no concern for market image or ruffling the feathers of the establishment, just pure unadulterated truth. He said he wanted a peaceful revolution for Peace, Love and Justice. As he said, "Gandhi tried it, Martin Luther King tried it and they were shot"... "...we all shine on!" -JWL

Also those "3" that beat their wives...look up the real stories/info...2 of those 3 men were also abused N had other issues as well. Its always more complicated then we paint it..."oh abuser...bad person no colors of grey all of it is black an white...throw away anything they say.. they can't have good ideas an be flawed people" If that is how we judge ppl then we might as well throw away any art or ideas fr any1 who has as much as told their significant others to "shut up" bc thats gas lighting an abusive nowadays.

"Give now or die later" Lennon knew what he was talking about. He rocognised you can not, realistically, brutalize, oppress and exploit any race of people for centuries and expect no repurcussions. There are consequences to face for such actions. Lennon was the man!

He was influential which is why the FBI had a file on him and he and Yoko were harassed but his killer just wanted the game of being the one who killed him and was influenced by Catcher in the Rye because Salinger was misunderstood too and so was his work that's why he became a recluse he had PTSD from the war but was non violent and stalked himself. Artists conjure emotions in people but triggering the wrong sort has severe consequences sometimes.

You think about all the 'stars' today...whether it's Miley Cyrus , Kanye West or P.Diddy... and you think of the mundane self-promoting pish they fill any interview with, then compare it to the inciteful topics John Lennon chose to speak about. It's like night and day. Lennon is light years ahead, intelligently, musically and philosophically, of these half-wits.

That's what I'm doing, far too late. Seeking out knowledge on my own, about this in particular - knowledge which was never fed to me by the education system I grew up with. It feels like the very least one can do. Further, as a PhD candidate in U.S. History, I hope one day to teach a course on this subject. However, I do not feel capable of teaching it from a genuine First Nations perspective - nor would that be my place.

You're 100 percent right. I thought the exact same thing. He was hanging in his yard for a couple days. When they confronted him, he seemed dazed. He was trying to relate lennons lyrics to his own life, but was quoting paul songs. In the end Lennon and his staff ask if he was hungry.....and they brought him inside and fed him. I think it was the same day George Harrison stopped by to help record "HOw Do you Sleep."

@Legacychildren - I think around the 60's/70's people were starting to get interested in first nations culture. So, people of non-native ancestry still had mis-information. We have so much more knowledge now, thanks to the movements of indigenous peoples who make their voices heard and shared their culture. Still have a ways to go, but, minds are opening...and on a world scale, the struggle for indegenous rights is a struggle for all peoples-we are all people of the earth.

OMG... John Lennon was well more educated than plenty of people, he says the whole American continent, which includes South America (5:57). I don't get why people still insist on separating them. Some say tectonic plates, other use another explanations, but in the whole right sense it should be just one continent. And of course I liked John in this interview, asking very fair and appropriate questions that most of the people never ask themselves about Native Americans. I'm Native, that's why.

@xwaystranger I'm still not sure I'm with you here. Are you using 'satan' as a metaphor for a group of humans' greed/retribution? Or are you saying that there is a real and tangible being known as satan whose physical embodiment we perceive as being those particular casino owners?

In 1970 when this interview was done there were 264,000 Indians in North America, or a quarter of one million, down from 19 million on that land mass when whites arrived.

Lennon was sincere, and not hypocritical. Self promoter ? He already had millions, what would he need to promote. I think it's good when celebrities stand up for causes that they believe in. Wright or wrong, famous people are heard more clearly.

@CherishBobbyLoveBear It was not all like that. Many of the tribes were relatively peaceful and like you said were open to the Europeans. Other tribes were far more territorial and warlike. The Lewis and Clark expedition led to some very good early writings on contact by Europeans with Native Americans that went both ways.

The banks and the corporations? Would it be better that the government take our homes, lands and resources? At least in private hands, it can be sold, or the corporation might fail. Once big government owns it, it's gone forever. Believe me, I know. I've got a camp in Northern Vermont on land now owned by the Feds, and they are slowly tightening the screws to force me (and others) out.

I love Dick, I really do....I know some people dislike him and they have a right to, but he has such a graceful way of making these extremely famous people get into a conversation. I'm 24 and I really wish there were more shows like that today. Other than late night stuff...the closest thing I have around I suppose is Charlie Rose...but he's getting old. OH yeah and John Lennon rocks

John Lennon saw the west for what it was and what it did and still does to Indians, Blacks, Mexicans....and predicted that a "revolution" would eventually come to be.. He would love the Idle No More movement !

out of curiosity, what makes any of you better or worse than John Lennon, or anyone else? Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and you don't have to agree with it, or you can if you want. Seems like John was pretty well spoken, if you ask me, regardless of what his opinions were
