I am sure I speak for many other kids of my generation in the 70s who didnt know why, for all his charity, something didnt ring true about Saville. Then as I grew older I thought may be his persona was an ironic statement which was way over my head. But after his death the rumours that started echoed perhaps the instinct I had about him - or they didnt suprise me. Kids, always trust your instincts and walk or run away, or scream for help- whatever it takes to keep you safe, even when your instincts are wrong. We all have instincts for a reason, listen to them, because one abuse is all it takes.

I was in Jersey a few months ago, and in a Chinese restaurant a handful of people over 70, all speaking in crisp RP accents, were sat around a table. John was only about 20 years old at this time. Didn’t give a fuck about what he was “supposed” to do because some man in a suit said so. He was gonna do precisely what he wanted to do, and if that was to talk about a massive pedo then so be it.
