Always great to listen to . I remember 1st listening to you many years ago at Saltaire West Yorkshire, it was a working mens club that held monthly concerts .I then heard you on the Wurlitzer which was at Trinity Arts Centre in Pudsey , now of course at Victoria Hall. Thanks for posting another great video 🎉

A beautiful medley. My dad was a dance band leader, organist & accordionist and played a professional career spanning almost 70 years in the NE of England. Quite how many times he played The Blue Danube . . . incalculable. Thanks for the lovely playing. I did not recognize the first number, but it was very attractive melody.

@@johnmannorganist His name is Terry Larke. He passed away in 2009, aged 88. He led a dance band in the 50s and early 60s (playing accordion), then, when electronic organs came around in the early 1960s began to play solo on Wurlitzer (mainly) organs in and around Northumberland. The Gray Arms at Red Row was one of his regular spots in those days. He was also much in demand at "barn dances" in the rural parts of the county. These started "after the pubs closed" (and were alcohol-less) and ran into the small hours. He was a marvelous player in his prime. The recordings on my KZbin channel were made when he was a little past his prime. Sadly, as was the way in those days, he recorded OVER vintage recordings when he made new tape recordings of himself. He could not read a note of music, where I did a music degree, so was able to help him learn new complex repertoire just by ear and imitation. But I consider him (always have) the suprior "natural" musician. He could play ANY tune upon request, and had a wonderful touch with Scottish dances and dances in general. If you Google "Terry Larke Accordion" and go to "Images" you will find three pictures of him "busking" in Cramlington Shopping Centre to raise money for a hospital charity (at Christmas). In the mid 1960s our family moved to Blyth and he was landlord of "The Fox and Hounds" pub in Blyth: changing it from a really rough dockside dive, into a pretty decent-clientele pub. He even installed a "pretend" set of organ pipes on the stage in the Fox (which, of course, was haunted, a whoel other story). He told me (quite late in life) "Look at their FEET! If they are tapping, . . . YOU'VE GOT THEM." It was brilliant musical advice.

Sadly no,,,I learned on one of these that my grandfather had, I was inspired by "His Eminence" after being taken to Ron and Lil's and hearing their Compton. My grandfather was a regular there along with Fred Baylis and all the others who met up at Compton Lodge at the bottom of Ron and Lil's garden in Old Netley. Anyone else remember????

I also had many happy hours at Ron and Lil's. I maintained and tuned the Compton. I remember all the happy faces loving the music. Packed to the rafters every Thursday evening. Happy times.
@TimTM-gm6od5 ай бұрын
Happy times indeed. Do you remember that minah bird ? 😂 Not sure if you know,,,,,but that organ, after going up to the east coast somewhere, is now back in Hampshire, in Titchfield Festival Theatre in Titchfield.
@stuartjameson6065 ай бұрын
How could I forget the bird. The organ that is in Titchfield came from the Forum/ABC Southampton and was Ron's first organ. Where the audience sat was the second pipe chamber for that first organ as it was double the size of the later one. The console for the Forum organ was in the bungalow and played through microphones in the organ and speakers in the house. It did not work.
