Yes, I agree!! Way too religious and judgmental!! Jesus paid a huge price to bring us back into relationship with God and we should not negate that with legalism. Jesus Himself said “The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath.” (Mark 2:27) Furthermore in Luke 14:5 , He also says “If one of you has a child or an ox that falls into a well on the Sabbath day, will you not immediately pull it out?” It is clear to me that Jesus was helping people to understand that relationship is more important than religion. I’m sure that God is quite pleased when any of us take at least one day a week to set our mind on things above and to enjoy all that He has created fir us to enjoy, including donuts!😉

Paul specifically says this. In the letter to the Colossians he confirms it to us. In Chapter 2, beginning with Verse 13, he says, And you, who were dead in trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses, having cancelled the bond which stood against us with its legal demands; this he set aside, nailing it to the cross. He disarmed the principalities and powers and made a public example of them, triumphing over them in it [not him; it, the cross]. Therefore, let no one pass judgment on you in questions of food and drink or about a festival or a new moon or a sabbath. These are only a shadow of what is to come; but the substance belongs to Christ. (Colossians 2:13-17) That should make it clear. Therefore, the claims of the Seventh Day Adventists, the Seventh Day Baptists, and other groups, that Christians changed the sabbath, are absurd, ridiculous. They claim that the Pope changed the sabbath by a papal edict from Saturday to Sunday, and that around the third or fourth century Christians began to celebrate Sunday rather than Saturday, out of obedience to this papal edict. But nothing could be further from the truth. History does not corroborate that in any degree. The Sabbath has always been Saturday and it always will be. It is the seventh day of the week. Sunday has always been the first day of the week. It has never been a sabbath, and it is pure legalism to call it a sabbath or to treat it as one. It is not a day of rest or restricted activity and it is not designed as such. It is the first day of the week; to Christians, the Lord's day. The shadow-sabbath ended at the cross, as Paul has made clear. The next day was the day of resurrection, the day when the Lord Jesus came from the tomb. On that day, a new day began -- the Lord's day. Christians immediately began to observe the Lord's day on the first day of the week. They ceased observing the Sabbath because it was ended by the fulfillment of its reality in the cross, and they began to observe the first day of the week. This is what you find reflected in the book of Acts. Justin Martyr, who writes from the 2nd century, says, But Sunday is the day on which we all hold our common assembly, because it is the first day on which God, when he changed the darkness and matter, made the world; and Jesus Christ, our Saviour, on the same day, rose from the dead. A fifth fact about this: Though this shadow-sabbath, i.e., Saturday observance, ended at the cross, the true sabbath, the rest of God, God's ceasing from effort, continued and continues today.

You aren't alone in your love for Sabbath. Knowing I have a guilt free day to relax and enjoy the present is priceless. I used to be in a church that followed Saturday Sabbath from Friday sunset to Saturday sunset and the hustle and hectic whirlwind of getting there took away from the rest that we were supposed to be enjoying in our reflection with the Divine. Of all the precepts I clung to the sabbath at home version after that church dissolved and have looked forward to the sabbath for decades since as a result. In a world so busy and putting myself under the demands of the to-do list, I would never rest if not for the Sabbath. Good for the ancients and potentially God for sanctifying this practice.

Let's listen to the Bible rather than Justin Martyr. Gen 2:2-3 2 Thus the heavens and the earth were completed in all their vast array. 2 By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day he rested from all his work. 3 Then God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it he rested from all the work of creating that he had done.

What day is that? In Jewish tradition, the Sabbath is Saturday whereas in Western culture the "Holy" day is Sunday. God's Word says 6 days you will labor and do all your work and on the 7th day you will rest. To proclaim that you know which specific day is the Lord's day is both untrue and dangerously close to blasphemy. I'm sure God cares more about the fact that someone is devoting a full day to Him in worship than what that actual day is on the calendar. In JMC's case, it doesn't make sense for his sabbath to be on Sunday because he is a pastor.

Which day is the 7th? Did they have the western Sunday - Saturday week? There aren't specific days mentioned in biblical text. It says 6 days for labor and then the 7th day devoted to God. Again, he is not basing it on convenience, he is still following the Lord's command of 6 days work and 1 day rest.

The Sabbath did not change. Hebrews 4: 8-10 For if Jesus had given them rest, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day. There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God. For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his. Who are God's people in the New Covenant? Galatians 3:28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.

Rick Huntling If Paul contradicts God himself then he was not an apostle and he did not do that. Paul was talking about fast days. Read the verses before that he is talking about food. The problem was that the Jews kept coming to the gentiles that Paul was preaching to and telling them things like they have to be circumcised or obey feast days or fast on certain days. Paul said don’t let them judge you in whether you do that or not, if you do it your doing to do God, if you don’t your not doing it to God but you don’t have to do it. Annual sabbaths that we’re kept by the Jews were not be be kept because they were don’t to point to Jesus coming but the Jews in their legalistic ways kept trying to tell the new converts they needed to follow them. The Ten Commandments are commands from God. Nothing has changed at all. There is nothing in the Bible that said God made the first day holy. There is nothing that says God said obey 9 commandments and forget the one that says remember. Matter fact John 14:15 says if you love me keep my commandments. Would you take the one that says though shalt not kill and say well what different does it make whether I kill one time or ten times. Or the one that says though shalt not steal and say what difference does it make it’s just a pen I stole. I didn’t take someone’s car. We can’t make up our own commandments. We follow exactly what God says. We don’t make a day holy because he rose on it, we keep the day he said was holy on the day of creation, on his Ten Commandments and the day Jesus himself worshiped on. He even rested in his grave on the 7th day as an example and rose on the first. What keeps us from worshiping on the day that Jesus himself worshiped on? What makes us find scripture to justify our disobedience because we don’t want to be inconvenienced? It’s not love. Because love makes us want to do what God asked us to do. Who is Gods remnant church that he mentions in Revelation? Rev 12:17 those who keep his commandments. Gods raising up a people in these last days that are going back to the original gospel and serving God the way he wants is too and not the way culture, society and traditions have taught us to. God wrote those commands with his own finger and he said REMEMBER the sabbath day.... the 7th is the sabbath of the Lord thy God. He cares he commanded it and unfortunately we claim we are followers of God and follow all 9 of them but forget the one that says remember. Don’t be deceived.

@Messerah Sabbath is has and always will be saturday, no one change any thing, the catholic church, just said now we will worship on Sunday, PAUL clearly say any day is Gods day, the Moses Laws were repealed by Jesus Death, under the Kinfdom Gospel, Paul preached every day in their houses, but the Jews little flock believers, the keept the Saturday as their worship day, the traditions of men not understand, the Law could not save them, a new way forward was needed for the Jews, By the time Paul come to be enlightened, with the Grace Gospel all men come under that new teaching, nothing at all about any day being above the other, every day is the Lords Day. Mosaic law fail, BY Grace today we are saved, NOT by Works, but by the death burial resurrection of Jesus, you only have to believe, all sins forgiven PAST PRESENT FUTURE, no work or Law to be observed Blessings

The Sabbath from sundown Friday to sundown Saturday is not the Jewish Sabbath- it was given at creation 2,300 years before there was ever a "Jew" on the face of the earth! God specified it NOT as "a" day of rest, but "the" day of rest! Also- it is not "a" seventh day, but on "the seventh day- which is Friday sundown to Saturday sundown! God does not call it "your" Sabbath day of rest, but rather "His" Sabbath day of rest! In Genesis 1:31-2:4- it says, then God saw everything that he had made, and indeed it was very good. So the evening and the morning were the sixth day. Thus the heavens and the Earth and all the host of them were finished. And on 'the seventh day' "God" ended His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done. Then God 'blessed' (consecrated, make holy, to favor above the others) "the" seventh day and 'Sanctified' (set it aside for a holy use or purpose) it, because in it "He" rested from all "His" work which God had created and made. (Notice what This means) This is the history of the heavens and the earth when they were created in the day that the Lord God made the earth and the heavens." When someone is we'd upon a specific day- it cannot be changed, because it is specific to that specific day- no one has a the right to change it- not even He Who established it! I promise you this--- the true Sabbath (Friday sundown to Saturday sundown) will soon be the issue and test of faith as to Who you are worshipping! If you keep the seventh day which is the true Sabbath, then you are worshiping God of all creation! However, if you keep any other day other than the one that the Creator God established, then you are not worshipping him, and you will receive the mark of the beast and be lost! My brother, it is that's serious! There will be laws made in this country very soon, and when those laws are made, judgements will fall upon this earth like we've never seen before! Please don't make the mistake of accepting commands idea of what Savage should be, but follow the true God and His True Sabbath and you will be saved!

The Sabbath is fulfilled in Christ and it is now a Place that you enter into no longer a day that you keep. - Hebrews 4:4-11 Study the Holy Scriptures before you shipwreck and someone with you. - 1 Timothy 1:19 You must have Book Chapter and Verse. Jesus Christ says, "If thou wilt enter life keep the commandments". The Sabbath Day isn't in there. Matthew 19:17-19

@Messerah This is the problem with those that are not led by the Spirit of Christ. - Romans 8:14; John 1:12; John 16:13 They don't understand the first oracles of God. - Hebrews 5:12 Neither principal doctrines of Christ. Christ is the end of the Law. - Romans 10:4 Which Law? The dispensation which is now Grace is the present truth - 2 Peter 1:12 Not that which decayeth and waxed old - Hebrews 8:13 The Law and the Prophets ended with John the Baptist - Luke 16:16 Yet, The Law is Spiritual. - Romans 7:14 The Law is holy Just and Good - Romans 7:12 The question again is Which LAW? "THE COMMANDMENTS OF THE LAW" NOT "THE WORKS OF THE LAW" The Commandments of the Law Jesus Christ has made plain to us that you will enter into life if you keep them - Matthew 19:17-19 Even just as plain as the Scriptures hath said, "The ordinances of the Law were against us and Christ nailed them to his cross. What ordinances? The "WORKS OF THE LAW" Meat and Drink nailed to his cross and took out of the way. Respect of Holy Days nailed to his cross and took out of the way. Respect of the New Moon nailed to his cross and took out of the way. Respect of Sabbath days nailed to his cross and took out of the way. That's not opinion = That's Holy Scripture. That's not vain deceit or the Philosophy of Men after the rudiments of the world and not after Christ but That's Written in the Oracles of God. Colossians 2:14-17 Get in the word of God. It is not a vain thing but it is your life - Deuteronomy 32:47 The SABBATH IS NO LONGER A DAY. THE SABBATH IS A PLACE AND WE NOW LABOR TO ENTER THERE IN WHICH IS ORDAINED BY GOD UNTO GOOD WORKS - Hebrews 4:4-11; Ephesians 2:8-10 WORK OUT YOUR OWN SALVATION WITH FEAR AND TREMBLING - Philippians 2:12 Put Christ Jesus yoke on you and keep his commandments. THAT'S LOVE !!! Everything else is vain jangling - Luke 6:46 Search the Scriptures please...- Acts 17:11

Its unbelievable that these two are saying this. Its clear in scripture that we don't keep the sabbath in a certain way.We are now in the Sabbath rest in Jesus and it's up to us how we rest.Jesus did not teach the Gentiles to keep one day.Its everyday like the first church.Meeting in home and breaking bread.

This is a new twist on "Sabbath keeping." He makes the point that it's not related to the Biblical command, it's just coincidental that "we sabbath" from Friday sundown to Saturday afternoon. He could have chosen any other time just as easily. This is about as un-Biblical as it can get. There is no ambiguity in scripture regarding the Sabbath. According to Genesis 2:3, long before the first Jew, God blessed the seventh day and made it holy. He didn't leave that up to us. This was His sovereign, creative act. According to Exodus 20:8-11, the Sabbath is the seventh day and likewise, the seventh day is the Sabbath. They are the same thing. This is all in God's order. The Lord God refers to the Sabbath as "my holy day" in Isaiah 58:13. In that sense it is "the Lord's day" as John said in Revelation 1:10. It is not "my sabbath" or "your sabbath" or "their sabbath." It is God's Sabbath which He shares with us. We are promised a blessing if we keep holy that which is holy. To leave it up to the individual as to which day we choose, simply out of convenience (it could be Saturday one week and Tuesday the next week and Thursday the week after that if we choose), is to set ourselves up in the place of God. "Then God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because in it He rested from all His work which God had created and made."

Warm and fuzzy? Yes! Biblical? No! Why? Because the Sabbath is not on any day of the week you choose. It's on the seventh day, the day we call Saturday. Hopefully, you'll figure that out on your journey.

The word "church" comes from the translated Greek word ecclesia which simply means a gathering of believers. Churches generally teach that the Law has been done away with. Can you murder now, or covet, or bow down to other gods? Yes, we are saved solely by faith in the Isaiah 53 Savior. However, He said "If you love Me, keep My Commandments." His Commandments are the same as His Father's as They are One. The Bible says that the Almighty "will not alter what goes out of His mouth." If that is not true, the Bible is not reliable. At Mt. Sinai, to the ears of the terrified Israelites below, He audibly spoke the 10 Commandments. This included a Fri. nightfall to Sat. nightfall Sabbath. NOTHING in the Bible says the Sabbath was changed to Sunday.. People say "Paul said....Paul said..." But Paul said to follow the Savior, not him, and anyway Paul never said the Sabbath was changed and certainly had no authority to change what was audibly spoken by our Creator and written on stone with His very finger. When he said "Let no man judge you" he was talking to new converts and encouraging them in their observance, not NON observance, of the Biblical holy days, i.e. to not give into pagan peer pressures. Throughout the New Testament you can see that the apostles, including Paul, actually kept the Mosaic Law. In Acts 15, for example, "even" the food laws are upheld and yes, for NON Jewish converts. We see there that blood is still forbidden and that the new converts are expected to be, as was the tradition, in Synagogues, on the Sabbath, to learn the rest of the Law of Moses. In Acts 21 we see that Paul, and all those in the Jerusalem Council, upheld the Law of Moses and Paul took an oath to demonstrate that. See the KJV. Read the false accusations spoken against Stephen. He was falsely accused of saying that our Savior came to do away with the Law of Moses. Acts 6:11-14. Further, our Savior affirmed the Sabbath by telling his followers, about the time when the Temple would be destroyed - after His Ascension - "Pray that your flight will not be in the winter or on the Sabbath." He wanted them to be able to rest on the Sabbath in the future, as always in the past. . You can see some RCC leaders online admitting to the fact that the Bible does not sanction a Sunday Sabbath, but that Protestants keep it anyway since - guess who changed it? ROME, under the pagan sun worshipper Constantine, changed it over a millenium ago. Constantine said that Christians were to be executed if they kept the true Sabbath and said they needed to rest "on the venerable day of the sun." Check it out. Sun...day. It's not the Sabbath. However, the Father of Mercies knows we are all confused children. We need not to turn on others about it, therefore, but to show love. If we do not, no matter what we do it's all a waste, certainly not the path to Heaven. Yet, if you want to move away from "traditions of men" to the real truths of the real Bible, I recommend 119 Ministries' vids, starting with The Pauline Paradox. . And yes, you can worship on any day of the week, but you are not supposed to...work...or cook...on the Sabbath - neither you nor those in your home, nor any servants (think waitresses and sales clerks etc.). Not even animals are to work then, or be penned up then. In fact, in Isaiah we are told to keep the Sabbath holy unto the Lord and also not to buy or sell on that day. The Sabbath is the longest Commandment and is stated in the Bible to be the very sign given to Israel of their Covenant with Him. (The New Testament tells us to be grafted into what? Israel.) Other nations had laws against murder and theft for example. Only those who wanted to Covenant with YHWH, aka God, were asked to keep the Sabbath. The 4th Commandment is not a suggestion. And no, I'm not a 7th Day Adventist. You don't need a "religion". You just need the Bible, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, and fellowship.

@@nzbrotrev9028 Why are you telling me not to quote Christ? Why instead do you use Paul as your authority? Paul had no authority to change one single little thing that was ordained by the Almighty. And he never tried to do so! Neither he nor anyone else in the entire new testament ever said that the Sabbath has been changed to Sunday. In fact Paul told authorities that he had not offended in anyway on keeping the Jewish laws. This meant that he kept the sabbath. And by the way there are not two sets of laws, one for Gentiles and one for Jews. In the New Testament and Old Testament it’s made very clear that there is only one set of laws for all of the Lords people. Just because, according to your particular way of interpreting things, the Sabbath was not reiterated, how does that show it was done away with!? First of all Christ clearly told us that not one jot or tittle of the law and the prophets would be done away with until heaven and earth were done away with. Let me see. Wasn’t the Friday evening to Saturday evening Sabbath part of the law and the prophets? Didn’t Christ tell his followers, concerning the time after his ascension into heaven, regarding the sacking of Jerusalem by Rome, that they should pray that their flight not be on the Sabbath? See the obvious. He wanted them to keep the sabbath and be at rest not in flight! See the obvious. The Sabbath therefore was obviously still in effect. See the obvious. Neither the Father nor the Son ever said that the Sabbath has been moved to Sunday. Any such change ain’t in the Bible! Didn’t the Almighty say that he would not alter what went out of his mouth? To the terrified Israelites at the foot of Mount Sinai he audibly spoke the 10 Commandments which included a Friday evening to Saturday evening Sabbath. Friend I will pray for you to see the obvious. Nothing personal but you will go on mute because if you don’t currently see what has already been shown you, if your mind is filled with traditions of men that you are clinging to in your heart, nothing else I have to say will get through to you.

@@nzbrotrev9028 OK I will bite one very last time. I already told you. I already told you that Christ said that not one jot or tittle of the law and the prophets would pass away. Obviously the Friday evening to Saturday evening Sabbath is part of the law and the prophets. I already told you where Christ said that his believers should pray that their flight not be on the Sabbath or the winter when the Romans sacked Jerusalem. How much more obvious can it be that he wanted people to be resting as always on the Sabbath? Your current deity is Paul. Well, not really Paul, but a pseudo-Paul. You think he got to change the fourth commandment, though he certainly never said any such thing. Nobody got to change any of the Commandments. Use your common sense. That’s all I’m going to say. If you don’t get it by now, well I just pray that your eyes will be opened later.

I get it but that's not the stuff Jesus wanted to see an did for Sabbath or Shabot however you word it in Hebrew. Nothing in your pockets yeah alot of people go sands power as no work is to be done...Most modern stuff makes alot of tasks not like work walking huge clay pots of heavy water from a well or river miles down the road is work...An that is not to be done.So I question turning on the tap...but many have water pitchers ready. Food premade. No shopping is to be done...You are not to cause others to sin so asking a person to work for you is still a sin. But, is using a microwave on a solar energy a sin it's a object set to work for you and it has no life no soul to condemn...Just a tool that does work without being capable of being felt treated badly ....
