@@charlescho it’s kinda of an abstract line, he’s just saying he wishes he was in her bed and not alone in his. But it’s a very poetic way of saying so. if you really think about it the song is a parallel of love and mortality and how they have the same arc. in the same sense falling in love is being reborn and being in love is living and falling out of love is death. the song just so happens to be on the edge of death and the fight to stay alive or rather the fight to stay with the one you love. its definitely his most technical song and one of his most poetic

This is a great song to learn because it also acts as a great exercise. On the one hand its a difficult riff to get down since its pretty involved with a few different techniques that go into it. On the other hand it is very good practice to learn this song and sing over because there is so much going on whilst singing. I am still currently working on it, give it a shot though. Very rewarding when you slowly start to get it down. John Mayer, you are one hell of an inspiration for me and I thank you for it!

How are you singing this? I mean what's your process to sing complicated pieces along with complicated guitar
@manyabhanti9197
@manyabhanti9197 2 жыл бұрын
@@Ash-fm6ym I'm doing this too, and a key aspect is to listen to the song over and over, then slow it down and listen. Get the picking perfect first. Then, you can take one part of the song--in this one, that would be the starting riff on the 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th frets. Figure what he's singing there and try to replicate it on only that part while playing along with him. Do this for all the parts, and then try singing and playing without the video. For this particular song tho, the singing actually helps me get better timing on the guitar, even if I can just manage to hum it at the start

@mayumi1603
@mayumi1603 6 ай бұрын
There's a certain beauty to this version that I just can't explain. It sounds raw and filled with emotions. As a guitarist, I always pay attention to what John is doing on the guitar, and in this version, he changes the arrangements for several parts AND manages to change the singing rhythm/pacing as well. You can see it simply comes naturally to him, in the sense that he's able to do it with ease after so much practice in his life. Guy is a genius.

I cant believe some people dislike this video. It is a great piece of music and John Mayer himself is a Legend. If you don't like him, then why did you click on this video in the first place?
