I actually got to meet John Mayer and he really is this cool in person we sat down and had a conversation for about a half an hour about playing guitar and I was like are you sure you don't need to be anywhere and he's like no man there's no place I'd rather be than right here with you and it made me feel so special I thought to myself man this guy is unreal he really is this good nice guy in my eyes he's our Jimi Hendrix of this generation or maybe a better comparison is Eric Clapton

"The best music transcends your playlist and moves into a different place in your life where it becomes your companion. It becomes storage units for your memories. It does something a little bit more than just make you sing along. Its places you somewhere in your life in a time that you'll always remember" Couldnt have been said better.

quincywho He's very cerebral and articulate. Described my experience with blues and hip hop so perfectly. I was some white kid from the Midwest, and something about those genres moved me. Naturally, I had to respectfully play along and learn these styles in a way that someone of my demographic can relate to. I went through the exact same exposures with certain artists, which launched me to learn about others (Clapton to Big Bill Broonzy, Mike Bloomfield to Mississippi John Hurt). I like this guy more and more everything he does.

J. M. Music awakened my soul. It took me through the happiest days of my life to some of the most heartbreaking. I can reflect and hold a memory for every album, song, and guitar solo. His music changed my perception of love and life and humbled me to the core. Such a magnificent and beyond talented artist.

Carlos de la Rosa Noriega why is that.
@baldbearded96019 жыл бұрын
Oh wow.. If you think he does music just to sell, you simply really don't know anything about John Mayer. His "Pop" sound were many many years ago. (Pop meaning: trying to have a "sound that sells") He then got many albums with less "pop" songs, producing blues music (with the John Mayer Trio among other things), and very recently, he started giving his music almost a country vibe! He was critiqued a lot for switching from Blues to "Country-Blues" because people used to love the pure blues feel to his music. But the guy is going to play whatever he wants, so Born and Raised was the 1st album to have that new vibe to it, then Paradise Valley too. Eric Clapton said he could not believe how incredibly good John Mayer was with a guitar, calling him a true Master. The guy doesn't need to try to please to anyone (just look at his reputation on the tabloids). He keeps being bashed for his romantic stories and people underestimate how good he is musically because of that. Just listen to his lyrics; he is one of the greatest poets of our era.. Really !!

Perfect description of the pros and cons of internet influencing learning guitar. I spent a lot of my teens just learning the shapes of chords, the shapes of scales, memorizing tabs, etc, not ever actually *learning* guitar/music. Wasn't until around age 20, when I forced myself to learn by ear, did I really make strides in my playing. The pro of the internet, is that I have unlimited lessons and sources of music to tap into instantly.

I enjoyed listening to the interview, interesting how John M. is talking about his musical experience really, the words he uses! However, some things, some werds were lost on me, I'd be grateful ifcsomeone can help me understand - I can't grasp the words... ....say, from 3:21 - 3.45 - didn't catch the idea about smth German, about Itunes? ...and what is this song played by Jay-Z at 6:17 ("U Don't Know" is clear, but the one before)?
@susannaA88 жыл бұрын
What he meant was that iTunes etc other music download applications reduce people downloading illegally songs, that might even be bullshit and not the real ones. And the other part, I think he meant some artist that Jay-Z was playing with. Don't know that one though, sorry
